Substitute Van DriverA school van driver is responsible for the safe transportation of students. Key responsibilities include:Transporting children to and from school and school activities.Obeying all traffic laws to ensure the safety of students during transit.Maintaining a clean and mechanically sound vehicle at all times.Ensuring the safety of all students when entering and leaving the vehicle.Engaging with students and assisting them as needed.A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are essential for this position.The below lists are not ranked in order of importanceA high school diploma or training and experience that are considered equivalent, at least 21 years of age with a minimum of two years of driving experience, meets all physical, mental, and moral requirements established by federal rule, state laws, and Chapter 3301-83 of Ohio Administrative Code, be physically qualified (Rule 3301-83-07 of Ohio Administrative Code), Ohio School Van Driver's license, possess a current valid Ohio pre-service school van driver training program certification, communicates in a courteous professional manner with students, parents, and school district personnel, a suitable dressed, neat and clean appearance, physically capable of appropriately lifting and managing special needs children when necessary, once employed are subject to the Federal Commercial Driver License Drug and alcohol laws, including random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident testing. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and Acceptable.
