Location: New York, LondonDepartment: TechnologyExperience Level: Experience ProfessionalsContact: Paul KrugJob ID: REQ8395Role OverviewThe Risk Technology team builds and supports the Risk Research platform for our Risk Management and Risk Research teams.This includes developing and maintaining libraries and analytical functions to create new research utilized in Risk Management and disseminating information to front-office business teams across Balyasny. The team's major clients include Risk Managers, Business Management, Portfolio Managers, and Senior Firm Management.The team is engaged in a multi-year effort to build next-generation risk analytics systems, support business expansion through modeling of new asset classes, and contribute to the overall growth of the firm.The Risk Technology team is looking for a strong Software Engineer to design and develop technology solutions for our clients.The engineer will work directly with clients to gather requirements and build technology to expand financial product and market coverage, as well as automate and continuously improve our risk management processes.The engineer should be comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with multiple concurrent time-sensitive business priorities, be an effective communicator and a strong collaborator, have a strong ownership mentality with curiosity to learn new business and technology, and be self-driven.Required Qualifications:4+ years of software development experience working on large-scale, high-performance, horizontally scalable, big data, distributed computing systems, preferably in the financial services industry.Expertise in server-side Python with strong object-oriented programming skills.Proficiency in Python's standard library and key third-party modules such as Pandas and Numpy.Knowledge of advanced Python features: threading, multiprocessing, and asynchronous programming.Skill in testing and debugging using frameworks like pytest or unittest.Proficiency in containerizing applications using Docker and deploying them on Kubernetes and AWS.Experience in designing scalable systems and optimizing performance.Capability to independently deliver high-quality software while also thriving in team settings.Bachelor's or advanced degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technology field.Good to Have Qualifications:Expertise in technologies such as Kafka, Redis, MongoDB, and MS SQL.Expertise in data analysis using SQL, Pandas, REST API, etc.Experience working on a firm-wide risk system for Equities, Fixed Income, or Credit is a plus.Knowledge of markets, financial derivatives, pricing/valuation, and risk analytics is a plus.Expertise in an object-oriented programming language such as C#, Java, or C++ is a plus.
