Principal, Elementary - Lincoln Elementary School 2026-2027

The Newport-Mesa School District is seeking an experienced, dedicated, dynamic and energetic instruction leader who has a strong understanding of instructional practices and outstanding communication skills to be a principal serving our elementary students. Successful candidates must have administrative experience, cultural competency, and a proven ability to foster a healthy school culture with high expectations. Position Description Under the direction of an Assistant Superintendent, the elementary principal serves as the educational leader and chief administrator of the school. Responsibilities include but are not limited to planning, organizing, and directing the total operation of the site to facilitating and supporting high quality instruction. This includes addressing the instructional program, the implementation of curriculum and instruction, and supporting personnel. An effective elementary principal will lead and facilitate collaborative decision making to create a school environment that maximizes student learning, academic performance, and positive social growth. Representative Duties Plan, collaborate, implement, and direct the district instructional program at the site level, ensuring alignment and rigorous, responsive standards-based instruction that supports the needs of all students Plan, design and conduct and maintain performance evaluation systems to ensure school goals and objectives are achieved Work closely with staff in assessing the school’s educational and program needs, develop short-term and long-range planning strategies for creating an optimal school-wide education program Plan, develop, organize and administer a variety of program and support systems which support students to achieve at maximum potential Work closely with staff and advisory groups in assessing the school’s educational and program needs, develop short-term and long-range planning strategies for creating an optimal school-wide education program Confer, consult, and advise District, public and private agency personnel and parents concerning student educational and behavioral challenges and determine alternative solutions Confer and collaborate with site and District personnel in decision making processes and in the development of alternative approaches to solving educational concerns and issues Assign, manage, supervise, monitor and evaluate employee performance, providing appropriate coaching and feedback as required Plan, organize, provide and facilitate professional learning teams and professional development for staff Utilize data to guide staff discussion and inform instruction and behavioral interventions Establish and maintain procedures for the resolution of conflict to maintain a high level of staff morale and promote a healthy, positive working environment Communicate effectively and timely with students, parents, and staff Oversee and ensure supervision and accountability for student activities, plant management and school connected organizations Monitor and effectively allocate human and monetary resources, appropriately Participate in functions of the district, school, community, and advisory committees Perform any other related duties as required or assigned. Required Qualifications Appropriate California Administrative Credential Master's degree from an accredited college or university A minimum of 3 years of administrative experience A minimum of 5 years teaching experience Special Education experience and knowledge preferred Successful candidates will have: Knowledge of High quality instructional practices, instructional methods, and learning theory for an exemplary elementary school program Research-based strategies that promote student well-being and engagement Multi-Tier Systems of Support (MTSS), including behavior supports and redirection State standards and curriculum frameworks Technology to support instruction and other functions throughout the school Instructional methodologies for English Learners Tenants of Professional Learning Communities California Standards for the Teaching Profession Collaboration, conflict resolution and team building principles and techniques Effective management and leadership styles, including various decision making models Budget management Ability to Establish and maintain a positive, effective, collaborative learning climate Develop and foster a safe and positive school culture Lead, facilitate, plan, and organize Design, develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum and instruction Provide instructional leadership and high-quality staff development Interact effectively and appropriately with school connected organizations and community groups Establish and maintain effective working relationships Analyze and problem solve complex situations Communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents: listening, speaking, and writing Engage with students and families in a diverse community Lead the direction of the school’s extra-curricular activities Participate in staff and student activities Selection Criteria The selection will be based upon: The candidate's possession of the qualifications and considerations noted above.
