Safety Technician
???? Location: Tampa, FL
???? Duration: 2 Years (Start: ASAP)
???? Type: 1099 Contractor
???? Pay Rate: $60/hr locals or $54/hr Traveler
⏱️ Overtime: Available based on project schedule
???? Per Diem: $175 (Travelers only)
???? Completion Bonus: $150/month
???? Pay Frequency: Weekly
⏰ Schedule: Monday-Saturday | Approximately 48 Hours/Week
???? Additional Schedule Details: Long-term assignment supporting the full duration of the project.
Join a contractor supporting the new construction of two student housing buildings in Tampa, Florida. This opportunity provides hands-on safety oversight with a specialized focus on crane operations, rigging activities, and high-risk construction work throughout a multi-year project.
Required Qualifications✔ OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 Certification
✔ Current First Aid/CPR Certification
✔ Minimum 2+ years of crane safety experience
✔ Experience supporting active commercial construction projects
✔ Knowledge of crane operations, rigging practices, and lift planning
✔ Strong field safety presence and hazard recognition skills
⭐ NCCCO Rigging Certification
⭐ Crane Institute of America Certification or equivalent
⭐ Crawler Crane Experience
⭐ Procore Proficiency
⭐ Commercial or multi-story building construction experience
⭐ CHST, ASP, CSP, or other BCSP credential
- Provide daily field safety oversight for construction and crane-related operations
- Maintain a highly visible presence throughout active work areas
- Monitor crane activities, rigging operations, material handling, and critical lifts
- Conduct routine site inspections, audits, observations, and hazard assessments
- Review lift plans, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and pre-task planning activities
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and project-specific safety requirements
- Identify unsafe conditions and coordinate timely corrective actions
- Provide field coaching and reinforce safe work practices with craft personnel
- Coordinate safety activities with project management, supervision, and subcontractors
- Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation
- Maintain required safety documentation, inspection records, and compliance reports
- Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the project

The ideal candidate is a hands-on, field-focused safety professional with experience supporting crane operations, rigging activities, and commercial construction projects.
Success in this role requires maintaining a strong field presence, proactively identifying hazards, effectively communicating with operators, riggers, and supervision, and ensuring lifting operations and construction activities are executed safely while supporting project productivity and schedule goals.
