Radiologic Technologist - General Radiology

Location and Shift Location: 100 Grand Street, New Britain (10126) Shift: Every Monday 3 p‑11 p. Every other Wednesday 4 p‑11 p. Every Thursday 4 p‑11 p. Every other Saturday 3:30 p‑11:30 p and Sunday 4 p‑11 p. Holiday and on‑call rotations. Summary The Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic radiographic imaging procedures in an acute‑care setting by positioning patients, operating diagnostic X‑ray equipment and providing patient care during imaging exams to assist in diagnosis and treatment of the patient. Responsibilities Perform radiologic examinations on identified patients according to department procedures and protocols, positioning patients and operating radiographic equipment while assessing patient age and diagnosis to produce high‑quality images. Perform fluoroscopic procedures as needed. Work in the O.R. and operate C‑arm as needed. Minimize radiation to the patient, self, and others by practicing appropriate radiation protection techniques, restricting radiation field size, using patient and personnel shielding devices, and utilizing low‑dose exposure factors. Adhere to radiation safety standards in compliance with regulatory agencies and hospital policies. Accurately input procedural information into electronic medical record, RIS and PACS to capture necessary information regarding exams, supply charges, resource allocations, radiation exposure and all relevant clinical information. Obtain all relevant patient information, including but not limited to current lab values and medication usage, ensuring the reason for exam is concordant with the exam request to perform the appropriate exam on the correct patient and procure an accurate diagnosis. Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications Graduate from an accredited Radiography program. State of Connecticut Radiographer license. ARRT certification in Radiography required.
