Schedule / Job Type

Contract (13 Weeks) | Full-Time | Onsite | 12-Hour Day Shifts (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM) | Expected 36 hours/week (48 hours/week available upon request; overtime applicable after 52 hours on 48-hour contracts) | Three weekends per every six-week schedule; every other holiday required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to a post-surgical patient population including whipple procedures, vascular, bariatric, ENT, podiatry, open abdominal, and thyroid surgeries, as well as pre/post heart catheterization patients
• Manage patients with dementia, altered mental status, CIWA/detox protocols, fall risks, and patients requiring q2-hour turns
• Perform and manage PIV insertion, chest tube and indwelling drain management, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), stable drip administration (heparin, lasix, protonix), epidural management, ostomy care, blood product administration, telemetry interpretation, and wound care (packing, wound vacs, dressing changes)
• Float within skillset as first to float; cross-campus float to nearby Indiana and Kentucky campuses possible with a minimum 2-hour notice; mid-shift float within the same campus may also occur
• Document and chart using EPIC (checkoff class required upon start)
• May be required to precept students and new hires as this is a teaching facility

Required Qualifications

• Current active Registered Nurse Compact License required
• AHA BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum two years of strong Medical-Surgical experience
• At least one prior travel assignment required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Recent EPIC charting experience required
• Must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with pre/post heart catheterization care including femoral and transradial band management
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills with the ability to manage change effectively in a dynamic environment
• Experience with telemetry interpretation and management of stable drip protocols
• Collaborative, adaptable, and team-oriented work style
