Job Title: RN, Special Procedures Profession: RN Specialty: Special Procedures Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Variable Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Registered Nurse experience with critical care or medical-surgical experience or experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab/Special Procedure department: Preferred License: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required Certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification: Required Advanced Electrocardiogram (EKG) certification: Preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor: Required Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from approved vendor: Required Client Fire and Life Safety (HLFS): Required Must-Have: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN): Preferred Description: Observe, evaluate, and coordinate the care given to patients in the Special Procedures department. Participate in direct and indirect care of all related activities according to established policies and procedures. Collect relevant data pertinent to the patient's health or situation. Analyze assessment data to determine diagnosis and care issues. Develop a plan that prescribes interventions to achieve outcomes. Implement the plan, coordinate care delivery, and promote health and a safe environment. Evaluate progress toward achieving outcomes. Identify outcomes for the patient or the patient's situation. Connect electrocardiogram (EKG) leads and alert the physician of any changes in patient condition. Record and analyze hemodynamic parameters and calculate shunt and valve data. Monitor patients, analyze electrocardiogram (EKG) and hemodynamic parameters, and report changes in patients' conditions. Operate computerized systems accurately and evaluate significant data throughout procedures for patients of various age groups. Operate other specialized equipment including intra-aortic balloon pumps and digital systems. Collaborate with the team of patients, families, and healthcare providers to provide patient care in a safe, healing, humane, and caring environment. Provide learning opportunities for patients, family members, and team members. Directly provide health information to patients, families, and treatment teams. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. This department performs the before, during, and after care of invasive, interventional, and therapeutic procedures to treat various disorders and conditions.
