Technology Procurement Director, Global Spend Management

Director of Procurement – Global Category Strategy Lead global category strategy and execute sourcing initiatives to deliver best overall value for the firm, maintaining quality and managing risk through well‑structured contracts. Partner closely with business and functional leaders to apply enterprise sourcing and procurement policies, and independently lead cross‑functional teams of category and subject‑matter experts through complex, high‑impact initiatives. Location & Work Arrangement Position is onsite in downtown Chicago (requires 2–3 days per week). Similar roles may be filled in London or Singapore. Some travel and remote work may be required. Key Responsibilities Lead small, global, cross‑functional teams in developing sourcing strategies, long‑range objectives, performance goals, and clear metrics. Build and manage multiyear category roadmaps, opportunity pipelines, and performance dashboards that drive value, resilience, compliance, and continuous improvement. Lead complex sourcing, RFP, and negotiation efforts, applying strong commercial judgment while balancing value, risk, stakeholder priorities, and long‑term strategy. Serve as primary procurement partner to senior leaders, translating business needs into sourcing approaches. Manage overall supplier relationships for assigned categories, aligning supplier goals with business objectives and holding suppliers accountable. Champion supplier diversity objectives, seeking opportunities with diverse suppliers. Conduct periodic supplier reviews to identify opportunities, address issues, verify performance, and plan renewals. Draft and negotiate business and commercial contract language of above‑average complexity. Support internal clients in building alignment, driving execution, communication, and implementation activities. Assess financial, operational, and risk implications of sourcing options and make sound trade‑off decisions. Leverage leading‑edge tools and technologies, including AI‑enabled solutions, to improve procurement work. Desired Attributes Curiosity – deep market and supplier insight, continuous innovation. Qualifications & Experience 9+ years of procurement experience in Technology and/or BPO (e.g., IT services, software, SaaS/Cloud, application services). Extensive experience with complex contracts and key supplier relationships. Bachelor's degree. Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills. Strategic thinking with tactical execution ability. Experience engaging with all levels of management, including C‑Level. Strong negotiation and supplier relationship skills. Excellent people management skills. Position requires some travel. Ability to work in a geographically diverse workplace. Reporting Reports directly to the Senior Director, Global Spend Management. Pay Transparency Laws The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $140,000 – $165,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on education, experience, skills, and geographic location.
