Job Title: Mold Setter (1st and 2nd Shift)

Job Description

This role is responsible for setting up and starting up plastic injection molding machines in a high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will ensure that safety and quality standards are consistently met by properly configuring equipment, performing first-line troubleshooting, and using precision measuring tools to verify that parts meet specifications.

Responsibilities

• Set up and start up plastic injection molding machines according to production requirements and specifications.
• Ensure safety is prioritized in all tasks, following established safety procedures and using required protective equipment at all times.
• Use micrometers, calipers, comparators, and other testing devices to verify that parts meet quality standards and inspection specifications.
• Confirm that equipment parameters and machine settings are correct to maintain consistent product quality.
• Work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment while meeting production targets and quality expectations.
• Monitor molding processes throughout the shift and identify, diagnose, and troubleshoot processing problems as they arise.
• Serve as the first line of defense for troubleshooting machinery issues and making necessary adjustments within defined limits.
• Perform changeovers on molding machines as needed to support production schedules.
• Support preventive maintenance activities by identifying potential mechanical issues and communicating them promptly.
• Interpret and work from blueprints and inspection specifications to ensure proper setup and part conformance.
• Use hand and power tools safely and effectively during setup, adjustments, and minor repairs.
• Provide clear and timely feedback to management regarding machine performance, quality concerns, and process improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, and quality teams to resolve issues and maintain smooth operations.

Essential Skills

• At least 3 years of plastic injection molding experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated experience setting up and operating injection molding machines.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, shown through hands-on work experience with machinery and mechanical systems.
• Proficiency using micrometers, calipers, comparators, and other precision measuring tools.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and inspection specifications.
• Experience performing first-line troubleshooting on molding machines and related equipment.
• Comfort and proficiency using hand and power tools safely.
• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent) required.
• Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced production environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality and safety standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous mold setting, die setting, or molding technician experience.
• Hands-on experience with injection mold changeovers and setup.
• Experience in maintenance or mechanical troubleshooting within a manufacturing setting.
• Mechanically inclined with the ability to identify and communicate equipment issues.
• Experience with preventive maintenance activities on production machinery.
• Familiarity with injection molding processes, tooling, and molding parameters.

Work Environment

This position is based in a mid- to large-size national manufacturing facility focused on high-volume production. Openings are available on 1st and 2nd shift, with typical shift schedules of 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and 10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Overtime is cycled and rotated as needed and may increase during busy periods, and weekend work may be required based on production demands. The role involves working around injection molding machines and related equipment in a fast-paced environment. Steel-toe shoes are required on the production floor, and appropriate hearing and eye protection must be worn in designated areas to ensure safety.Experience

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Auburn, IN.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
