Job Summary
Operating Room (OR) Nurse in the healthcare organizations facility located in the specified region. This position involves providing specialized perioperative patient care, supporting a variety of surgical procedures across multiple specialties including neurology, general surgery, orthopedics, plastics, urology, and more. The role requires collaboration within a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective surgical outcomes.

Job Details

• Certifications, Education Requirements, Degree Requirements, Location Requirements, and Years of Experience: Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, minimum two years of OR experience, and proficiency in pediatric skilled set.
• Schedule: Day shift, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Additional Responsibilities: Ability to float to other UCSF facilities. Must have completed references on submission.
• Preferred Qualifications: CNOR certification, experience in general surgery, orthopedic, or neuro procedures, and proficiency with laparoscopic surgery and scrub skills in surgical procedures.
• Patient Population: Neonates, adolescents, infants, and pediatric patients, with a daily census of approximately 30 patients and 10 beds in the unit.
• Unit Details: Support from interdisciplinary teams including respiratory, radiology, pharmacy, interpretation services, and social services. The operative specialties include neuro, cardiac, ortho, ENT, plastics, eye, general surgery, urology, thoracic, gynecology, vascular, hematology-oncology, bone marrow transplant, and organ transplant.
• Equipment and Procedures: Use of advanced surgical equipment including microscopes, lasers, navigation systems, laparoscopes, and radiology tools. Experience with a variety of procedures such as tissue banking, craniofacial surgery, joint reconstructions, and minimally invasive surgeries is preferred.
• Orientation and Modules: Orientation begins at 4:00 PM PST on the Monday prior to the start date. Completion of required modules varies by unit and is non-billable.
• Submittal Requirements: Include two references from the most recent employer, employment history with University of California medical facilities must be detailed, and 2 years of experience in an OR setting is required.
