Electrician Helper - Union

This position is responsible for insuring the integrity and safe working condition of all shop and billboard mounted electrical components/systems. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Installation and repair of wiring and conduit within the scope of the NEC (National Electrical Code) Repair and maintenance of electrical fixtures and control equipment Setting and programming time clocks Planning new or modified installations to minimize waste of material, provide access for future maintenance, and lock all disconnects when leaving a sign Installing equipment such as lighting fixtures, relays, ballast, breakers, disconnects, circuit breakers, and fuses Using the lock‑out tag‑out method Identifying and promptly reporting any unsafe conditions observed Understanding LED lighting and billboard‑mounted digital displays Maintaining billboard‑mounted digital displays, including repairs PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS, ENVIRONMENT Climbing and working at elevated heights, often 60ft or more; working under various weather and heat conditions; performing tasks while sitting, walking, standing, speaking, hearing, reading, kneeling, and lifting or carrying a minimum of 50lbs.; managing multiple concurrent tasks with frequent interruptions; requiring strong verbal and written communication, meticulous work, and confidentiality. EQUIPMENT USED Safety harness with lanyard and other personal protective equipment Various ladders Multimeter to determine voltage Power tools and hand tools MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS At least 2years of electrical experience Ability to climb and work safely at elevated heights, 60ft or more Ability to read blueprints and schematics Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing electrical problems Licensed electrician or demonstrable knowledge and experience sufficient to meet the definition of a qualified person in a sign/billboard work environment Experience working with voltages from 120V to 240V single‑phase and 208V three‑phase Compensation is $20–$23 per hour, determined during the interview process based on experience and market benchmarks.
