General Summary The Nutrition Technician is responsible for preparing and delivering human breast milk, infant formula and pediatric formula. The Nutrition Technician assumes responsibility of all duties related to preparing feedings for a vulnerable patient population and acts autonomously when needed to ensure patients' needs are met. Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for preparation and management within the Feeding Preparation Center of powdered formulas, liquid concentrates, expressed breast milk, and ready-to-feed formula, as well as needed modulars and fortifiers. Delivers feedings to medical units and dispenses used feedings appropriately.

• Maintains adequate supplies and equipment. Maintains sanitation in the feeding preparation center.

• Uses Medical Record System and Formula/breast milk software to manage patient feedings. Prepares feedings using aseptic technique.

• Communicates with patient's health care team regarding problems with feeding orders, formula storage, or administration.

• Assumes administrative management of Feeding Preparation Center documentation, including but not limited to temperature logs, eye wash logs, and delivery logs.

• Assists in training other employees in infant and pediatric feeding preparation and proper handling techniques, as needed. Contributes to effective functioning and teamwork.

• Maintains organization of formula and breast milk refrigerators throughout Franciscan Children's.

• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Associate's degree or 2 years of college in a health science or STEM field preferred. In lieu of education experience working in a food service, pharmacy, health care or lab environment will be considered. Requires fluency in the English language and ability to perform basic mathematic functions. Requires the ability to recall information that has been presented verbally or in writing.
