Job Description

The Oncology Nurse Navigator is a professional Registered Nurse with strong oncology-specific clinical knowledge who provides individualized guidance education and support while helping patients overcome barriers within the healthcare system. This role serves as a vital connection between patients caregivers physicians and multidisciplinary care teamshelping ensure patients receive coordinated timely and high-quality care.

What Youll Do

Using the nursing process and oncology clinical expertise the Oncology Nurse Navigator will:

• Guide patients and caregivers through the oncology care continuum particularly during diagnosis and initial treatment planning.
• Provide individualized education and support to promote informed decision-making and understanding of treatment plans.
• Identify barriers to care and collaborate with the appropriate resources to help patients successfully navigate the healthcare system.
• Facilitate timely access to consultations diagnostic testing treatment and supportive services.
• Serve as a key communication link between patients and multidisciplinary providers both within MUSC Health and with external healthcare partners .
• Coordinate communication among physicians nursing ancillary services and other members of the oncology care team.
• Advocate for patient needs while promoting continuity and coordination of care.
• Recognize changing patient needs and appropriately prioritize or reprioritize care and resources.
• Maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external providers and community resources.
• Work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced oncology environment.

Education & Experienc e

Required:

• Bachelors degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing.
• Minimum of three years of related clinical nursing experience .

A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) may be accepted in lieu of the BSN requirement.

Preferred:

• Previous oncology nursing experience.

Licensure & Certificati ons

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse through the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state .
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required.

You will connect the pieces of their care improve communication among providers address barriers and help patients and families understand what comes next.
