Field Service Engineer III

Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a Field Service Engineer III to install, maintain, and repair advanced analytical and microscopy equipment for research institutions and industrial facilities. The role combines technical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, customer training, and field support across remote locations in Michigan.

Responsibilities

Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair sophisticated analytical and microscopy equipment at customer sites
Conduct preventive maintenance and diagnostic testing; resolve complex technical issues
Train customers on system operation and best practices for optimal performance
Build and maintain positive relationships with research institutions, universities, and industrial clients
Respond to urgent customer needs and work in cleanroom and laboratory environments as required

Requirements

Advanced degree plus 3 years experience, or Bachelor's degree plus 5 years experience with analytical instruments
Expertise with ultra-high vacuum systems, high voltage electronics, and electro-mechanical systems
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills for hardware and software issues
Proficiency with Windows, networking, and standard business software
Ability to read schematics and engineering drawings; professional English proficiency
Valid driver's license; ability to travel 25–50% and lift up to 50 lbs
Experience mentoring and training users preferred
