Exemption Status: Exempt Hiring Range: $87,276.80 - $157,081.60 Schedule Details: Sunday through Saturday Scheduled Hours: 7:00 - 3:30 Shift: 1 - Day Shift, 8 Hours (United States of America) Hours: 40 Cost Center: 10020 - 3700 Nuclear Medicine Signing Bonus: May be available. A member of the Recruitment Team will confirm eligibility during the interview process. Major Responsibilities Directs and supervises assigned personnel on Medical Center campuses and affiliated satellites as required and directed. Responsibilities include payroll, performance evaluations, scheduling, orientation, and training. Reviews and reports to the Director on monthly budgetary variances for cost centers and makes recommendations for maintaining budgets in staffing, supplies, and volume. Participates in annual budget development and makes recommendations for the areas managed. Manages activities to assure financial goals are met. May participate in the preparation of budget and variance reports, as well as chargemasters for coding and billing of exams. Investigates and recommends new products, equipment and methods that will contribute to greater cost efficiency and higher quality of services. Reviews patient schedule and backlogs on a regular basis and makes appropriate changes to ensure acceptable appointment availability. Provides support and training to clinical areas that utilize the services of the department to ensure patient compliance. Functions as a technical resource to peers, through demonstration of expert knowledge of department protocols, procedures, and image quality. Plans, develops, reviews, and documents training and educational programs for all personnel, including new employee orientation, annual safety training, SOP training, technical training, QI training, and computer training. Reviews and updates department imaging protocols annually. Reviews, evaluates, and monitors proficiency testing programs to ensure adequate evaluation of test systems, methods, and competency of personnel. Implements and tracks a formal staff competency evaluation program. Performs imaging exams following departmental protocols, as needed. Acts as a resource/consultant for member facilities. Assists with department preceptors, provides training and technical assistance, and assists in monitoring progress of orientees. Responsible for staff schedules for holiday rotation, on call and vacation to ensure adequate coverage of the department. Participates in interviewing potential employees, orientation, education, performance appraisals, disciplinary process, updating policies, procedures, and protocols. Maintains inventory and orders supplies. Reports equipment problems, facility problems and provides a safe and clean work area for staff. Standard Supervisor Level Responsibilities Distributes and monitors the flow of work for an assigned group of employees. Provides training and technical assistance to employees within the assigned work area. Assists in ensuring that assigned employees are provided with appropriate resources, materials, and methods. Supervises assigned personnel including performance evaluations, scheduling, orientation, and training. Makes recommendations on employee hires, transfers, promotions, salary changes, discipline, terminations, and similar actions. Resolves grievances and other personnel problems within position responsibilities. Coordinates the assignment of tasks and helps resolve technical and operational problems. Evaluates the impact of solutions to ensure goals are achieved. Provides effective direction, guidance, and leadership over the staff for effective teamwork and motivation and fosters integration of efforts with system-wide initiatives. Encourages and supports diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, respect, tolerance, civility, and acceptance toward all employees, patients, and visitors. Integrates diversity into departmental objectives, such as hiring, promotions, training, vendor selections, etc. Participates in performance improvement initiatives and demonstrates the use of quality improvement in daily operations. Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies such as Joint Commission, DPH, etc. Develops and maintains procedures necessary to meet regulatory requirements. Ensures that department complies with hospital established policies, quality assurance programs, safety, and infection control policies and procedures. Ensures adequate equipment and supplies for department. Develops and maintains established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives. Ensures compliance to all health and safety regulations and requirements. Performs similar or related duties as required or directed. Qualifications License/Certification/Education Associates Degree or specialized training equal to a two-year college degree. Valid MA license in Radiology from the Department of Public Health. Primary and advanced registration through the American Registry for Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Additional post-primary certification as required for each modality (CT scan, etc.). BLS/CPR certification. Experience/Skill 3 to 5 years of technical experience. Previous experience or demonstrated ability in management and supervisory responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to teach and perform all facets of Radiology including regulatory requirements of the ACR, DPH, and FDA for quality control. Proficiency in using equipment and software. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; self-directed. Experience with positive public relations, organized and diplomatic. Independent problem solving ability; ability to set priorities. Unless certification, licensure, or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the above requirements. Department-specific competencies will be developed, maintained, and attached to the departmental job description. Responsibility managers review competencies with incumbents. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions Work is considered medium. Position requires work indoors in a patient care environment. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. with frequent lifting of up to 25 lbs. Must stand and walk for long periods of time. Must lift and position patients and imaging equipment. Hearing and visual acuity sufficient to perform imaging procedures, observe patients, read monitors and documents, and hear equipment alarms. Modality Specific Requirements Diagnostic Imaging: ARRT and Massachusetts State License required. CT: ARRT, Massachusetts State License required, CT certification required within one year of employment. Interventional: ARRT and Massachusetts State License required. Vascular Interventional Registry required within one year of employment. Ultrasound: Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) required. Nuclear Medicine: Certification by NMTCB and/or ARRT for Nuclear Medicine required.
