Registered Nurse Med-Surg Ortho Trauma

Mission Health, based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse for our Med-Surg Ortho Trauma unit within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will provide comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to adult orthopedic and trauma patients with a wide range of medical-surgical needs. Working closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, case managers, and support staff, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans that promote optimal recovery, functional mobility, and patient safety.

As a Registered Nurse on the Med-Surg Ortho Trauma unit, you will perform thorough patient assessments, monitor vital signs, manage complex post-operative and trauma care, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition. You will administer medications and treatments accurately, manage IV therapy, wound and incision care, traction, and orthopedic devices, and support pain management and early mobility initiatives. You will coordinate transitions of care, provide education to patients and families regarding diagnoses, surgical procedures, rehabilitation, and discharge instructions, and advocate for patient needs throughout the continuum of care.

This position requires strong critical thinking, time management, and communication skills, as you will be caring for multiple patients with varying acuity levels in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. You will document care clearly and accurately in the electronic health record, follow all hospital policies and evidence-based protocols, and participate in quality initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes such as fall prevention, infection prevention, and reduction of readmissions.
