Compensation and IncentivesWeekly Competitive Pay is $30 - $33Tool/Boot Reimbursement ProgramReferral ProgramEmployee benefits: Discounted premiums for Medical, Dental and Vision plans, Flexible Spending AccountsGenerous Paid Time Off/ Holiday ScheduleEmployer Matching 401KJob Summary: Responsible for diagnosing, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on semi-truck trailers and tractors, including tasks like brake adjustments, tire replacements, electrical troubleshooting, basic structural repairs, and more, all while working out of a service truck and adhering to strict safety regulations; general repairs on tractor and trailer units in accordance with DOT, federal and state regulations and company standards. Uses technical publications or automated systems in maintaining vehicles to prescribed manufacturers' maintenance schedules and for researching parts. Properly annotates all maintenance and labor performed in maintenance management software.Duties and Responsibilities:Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers.Perform annual/systematic 90 day and HM-183 inspections (tankers) on equipment as required.Ensure equipment meets Federal FHWA standards.Operate a yard hostler truck to move trailers within the facility yard and the shop as needed.Order and receive parts and supplies as needed.Adheres to all established safety (OSHA) and environmental policies and standards to include identification, use, and proper procedures for handling or disposal of hazardous waste.Clean, organize and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety.Using welding equipment.Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.Perform HM-183 DOT inspections on tankers (P,V,I,K,L,HS,UC,) (EPA-M27).Benefits:Employee benefits: Discounted premiums for Medical, Dental and Vision plans, Flexible Spending AccountsBasic Life/Voluntary LifeShort Term and Long Term DisabilityFlexible Spending Account and Health Savings AccountEmployee Assistance Program401k Match & Roth Retirement Savings PlanWeekly PayRequirements:Skills and Abilities:Must possess at least 3 years of experience in repair and service of trailers, hazmat tankers, and medium duty trucks.Required to have demonstrated knowledge of vehicle and equipment theory, principles and repair relating to diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.Minimum of 3 years experience of tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT rules and regulations.Ability to use vehicle diagnostic software.Minimum of 2 years as a fleet mechanic.Education and Experience:Minimum of 3 years of DOT HM-183 certification, Training or experience. ASE Certification not required but recommended.High school diploma, completion of G.E.D. required.Additional Job Information:Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, hours depend on location.Work Environment:The shop has a climate similar to outdoor weather. Frequent exposure to loud machinery, air tool operation, hammering and engine noise.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 75 lbs.Able to fit into a 20" cargo trailer dome opening.Able to meet safety standards for fall protection harness – max weight 310 lbs.
