Instructional Assistant - Haughton, Louisiana

Job Description

Make a real impact by supporting students' educational journeys in a valued paraprofessional role! This contract opportunity invites you to work directly with students, offering American Sign Language (ASL) services to ensure full access to curriculum and classroom participation. Beginning August 6, 2026, and continuing through May 19, 2027, you’ll be onsite, collaborating closely with educators and staff for 35 engaging hours each week.

What You’ll Bring:

Proficiency and fluency in ASL is essential
Previous experience as a paraprofessional in a school or educational environment preferred
Strong communication skills, with a passion for helping students succeed
Dedication to fostering an inclusive and accessible learning atmosphere
Flexibility, reliability, and a positive attitude in a dynamic school setting

Your Day-to-Day:

Provide direct ASL interpretation and support to students in classroom settings
Partner with teachers to modify and adapt lesson content for maximum accessibility
Facilitate effective communication between students, peers, and school staff
Monitor student progress and contribute feedback to the educational team
Support a safe, respectful, and encouraging environment for all learners
