Senior Sales Representative (Lighting Controls) (New York City Metropolitan Area)

Job Summary

The Sales Representative is responsible for driving demand and sales for Acuity’s electronics portfolio including lighting controls, LED drivers, emergency components, software, and services throughout the New York City Metro market. The role also supports projects specified in NYC that are executed in other territories, ensuring alignment, continuity, and a consistent customer experience.

This position serves as a trusted technical and commercial advisor, influencing specifications, shaping solutions, and guiding customers through the full sales lifecycle from early discovery and application support through project execution and long-term value realization.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Growth & Opportunity Development

• Build and strengthen relationships with key NYC-based specifiers, consulting engineers, architects, contractors, and other influencers.

• Drive sales growth across Acuity’s electronics portfolio, including lighting controls, LED drivers, emergency solutions, software, and services.

• Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and customer needs to uncover growth opportunities.

Technical Expertise & Customer Value

• Serve as a trusted advisor by translating technically complex solutions into clear customer value.

• Develop working expertise in vertical markets, energy codes, lighting controls, emergency solutions and networked technologies.

• Provide application guidance and technical support throughout the project lifecycle.

• Capture customer feedback and competitive insights to support internal teams.

Training, Education & Industry Engagement

• Educate customers on electronics products and applications.

• Deliver presentations, demonstrations, and educational sessions.

• Represent Acuity within NYC industry organizations and events.

Collaboration & Execution

• Collaborate with Electronics Sales Managers, agents, distributors, and regional sales teams.

• Partner with product marketing and cross-functional teams on launches and market initiatives.

• Leverage CRM, ABS/BSF tools, Microsoft Office, and technical software to manage opportunities effectively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

• 5+ years of relevant sales or technical solutions experience.

• Working knowledge of lighting controls, electronics, or connected building technologies preferred.

• Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

• High technical aptitude and strong organizational skills.

Travel Requirements

Overnight travel required based on territory needs (typically 10–30%).
