Identify customer needs and provide advice and guidance regarding financial solutions that are in the best interests of customers. Work collaboratively within the branch and with BMO partners to deliver the desired customer experience and achieve business objectives. Proactively engage with existing customers and prospects, conduct needs‑based assessments, grow loyalty, and identify immediate/future opportunities. Recommend tailored solutions across everyday banking, retail investments, lending, home financing and small‑business solutions. Offer advice on digital and self‑serve options to make banking easy, simple and fast. Responsibilities Engage customers to complete needs assessments that identify financial solutions and preferred banking channels. Recommend tailored solutions addressing both sales and service needs, including personal banking, retail investments, lending solutions, home financing, and small business solutions. Offer clients advice and guidance on available digital and self‑serve options with the goal of making banking easy, simple and fast. Support customer transaction needs based on traffic. Generate appointments, build new relationships within the community, and reach out to prospective customers. Address questions and resolve issues arising from consumer credit audits and quality checks to ensure accurate data entry and lending application recommendations. Apply the risk management framework to the portfolio to protect the bank’s assets and maintain the quality of the lending portfolio. Make credit recommendations for personal lending transactions, including home financing, in accordance with sound credit granting principles and the bank’s policies and procedures. Act as a key member of a collaborative and versatile branch and market team. Probe to understand customer personal banking and credit card needs and integrate marketing promotions and programs into conversations. Organize work information to ensure accuracy and completeness. Take initiative to find creative approaches that make each customer’s experience feel personal. Look for ways to contribute to the ongoing improvement of the overall customer experience. Contribute to business results and the overall experience delivered. Work at multiple branches or through various channels based on market needs; the work schedule may vary week to week in terms of days, hours and shifts. Follow risk and compliance processes and policies to safeguard customer assets, maintain privacy and act in the best interest of customers. Keep current with the financial services marketplace, legal and regulatory environment and uphold the highest ethical requirements. Maintain current knowledge of personal banking products, practices and trends and integrate them into conversations. Identify and report suspicious patterns of activity suspected to be related to money laundering. Complete complex & diverse tasks within given rules/limits and handle escalations from other employees. Analyze issues and determine next steps. Take measured risks while protecting the bank, applying the Risk Management Framework in line with the approved Risk Appetite. Qualifications Typically 2–3 years of relevant experience and a post‑secondary degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Canada only: registration to sell investment products completed (as appropriate for the jurisdiction). Appropriate lending qualifications and designations. Working knowledge of personal and small business customer needs and solutions. Working knowledge of retail investments and lending products. Experience in financial services is an asset. Experience in a consultative customer service or sales role, with a drive to deliver a personal customer experience. Passionate commitment to helping customers. A focus on results and the ability to thrive in a consultative sales and team‑based environment. Resourceful self‑starter with courage and confidence to approach customers. Readiness to collaborate and work in different capacities as part of a team. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build rapport and connections with customers. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficiency in the use of social media, tablets, smartphones, online tools and applications. Knowledge of personal and small business banking, retail investments, and lending products. Knowledge of risk management and compliance processes. Ability to analyze information, identify problems and provide solutions. Excellent organizational and time‑management skills. Strong customer‑service orientation and consultative selling skills. U.S. Only Requirements This position will act as an originator of consumer loans as defined by RegulationZ, RegulationG, and the S.A.F.E. Act. Will require a Federal registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry. Criminal background review and credit history evaluation will be required, as well as restrictions on performing in a real‑estate agent capacity. Compensation & Benefits Salary: $45,900.00 – $75,900.00 (paid) Compensation may vary based on location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications, and may include commission structure.
