AP Manager

Overview Accounts Payable (AP) Manager - Rockville, MD Beacon Hill Financial is partnering with a local organization in the search for an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to oversee the full-cycle AP function and ensure accurate, timely processing of vendor payments. This role will report directly to the Controller and will be responsible for managing day-to-day AP operations, supervising staff, and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and internal controls. The ideal candidate will have experience leading an AP team, working in a high-volume environment, and maintaining strong relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders. Responsibilities Oversee the full-cycle accounts payable process, including invoice intake, coding, approval workflows, and payment execution Manage and mentor AP staff, including workload distribution, training, and performance oversight Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, expense reports, and vendor payments (ACH, wire, check) Review and approve invoices, payment batches, and account reconciliations for accuracy and compliance Maintain and monitor the vendor master file, ensuring data integrity and proper documentation Resolve escalated vendor inquiries, payment discrepancies, and internal stakeholder concerns Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting standards Lead month-end close activities related to AP, including accruals, reconciliations, and reporting Support external and internal audits by preparing schedules and responding to audit requests Identify and implement process improvements and automation initiatives to increase efficiency Partner with procurement, accounting, and finance teams to streamline procure-to-pay processes Prepare and analyze AP reports, including aging, cash requirements, and disbursement trends Assist with development and documentation of AP policies and procedures Qualifications Experience leading an AP team in a high-volume environment Strong vendor relationship management and ability to work with internal stakeholders Experience supervising day-to-day AP operations and implementing process improvements Knowledge of AP processes, internal controls, and accounting standards Ability to contribute to month-end close and audit support Beacon Hill is an equal opportunity employer and individuals with disabilities and/or protected veterans are encouraged to apply.
