Job Duties

Read, interpret, and follow technical drawings

Assemble and weld specialized heavy-steel structures

Set up and operate according to standardized procedures; weld components in one or multiple layers

Inspect welds for quality, clean, and prepare for final treatment/finishing

Move and manipulate heavy parts using overhead cranes or walkways

Education Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred. Vocational training, welding certification, or technical education is beneficial.

Experience Requirements

3 years of experience performing hands-on welding and fabrication experience working with heavy steel structural materials using linear, multi-layer, and vertical welding techniques

Ability to read blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication drawings

Knowledge of welding equipment setup, welding techniques, and safe operating procedures

Ability to accurately measure, fit, and prepare materials prior to welding

Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety

Preferred Qualifications

AWS Welding Certification preferred

MAG Welding experience preferred

Previous experience in manufacturing, fabrication, structural welding, or production environments is preferred

Experience using grinders, saws, cutting equipment, and metal fabrication tools is beneficial

Knowledge of weld inspection, blueprint interpretation, and quality control procedures is considered an asset

Individuals who demonstrate craftsmanship, dependability, and a commitment to continuous improvement are well positioned for success as a Welding Technician

Physical Capabilities

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in welding positions throughout the shift

Ability to lift metal components, materials, and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds

Ability to safely wear welding helmets, gloves, and required personal protective equipment

Ability to safely work around welding equipment, sparks, heat, and fabrication machinery while following established safety procedures

Steel toed shoes are required on the production floor
