Accounts Receivable & Trade Deductions Analyst

Job Type: Full-Time / Salaried (Exempt) - $62,000 - $72,000
Job Location: Kodiak HQ: Park City, Utah or Remote   

Individual base salary for this role ultimately will depend on numerous factors, including but not limited to experience, job-related skills, relevant education or training, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate could fall anywhere within the stated range. The Accounts Receivable & Trade Deductions Analyst keeps customer accounts accurate and trade activity moving by owning deductions, cash application, collections, and accounts receivable reporting. This role validates customer claims against approved trade plans, resolves discrepancies, and protects cash flow while maintaining strong customer relationships. Working across Sales, Commercial Finance, Customer Service, Operations, brokers, customers, and IT, the analyst turns account activity into clear insights and process improvements. Success means timely reconciliations, fewer outstanding items, and reliable information for sound business decisions.

 

What will you do? 

• Own daily cash application and customer account reconciliation, ensuring receipts, invoices, credits, and balances are posted accurately and resolved promptly. 
• Research, validate, code, and resolve customer deductions and material offsets by comparing claims with trade plans, contracts, pricing, promotions, and supporting documentation; dispute and collect invalid deductions. 
• Manage collections and customer credit procedures by monitoring past-due balances, following up with customers and brokers, documenting commitments, and helping the team achieve days sales outstanding targets. 
• Reconcile customer invoicing with third-party logistics inventory reporting and investigate variances with Operations, Customer Service, and Finance to protect account accuracy. 
• Maintain weekly accounts receivable aging reports, customer payment summaries, and KPI dashboards; analyze deduction and payment trends to identify root causes, risks, and opportunities to improve trade-spend efficiency. 
• Partner with Sales, Commercial Finance, Customer Service, customers, and brokers to resolve pricing, promotional, payment, and deduction disputes while clearly documenting trade agreements, payment terms, credit policies, and exceptions. 
• Support month-end close, account reconciliations, accruals, annual audit requests, and internal controls, while improving and automating accounts receivable and trade-finance workflows through uploads, scanning tools, Power BI reporting, and customer-specific solutions developed with IT. 

 

You bring the following capabilities to the role:

• Analyzes high-volume customer transactions, trade agreements, and supporting documentation with precision so deductions and account balances are coded, reconciled, and resolved accurately. 
• Organizes competing deadlines across cash application, deductions, collections, reporting, and close activities to keep customer accounts current and financial reporting on track. 
• Explains account issues, supporting evidence, and required next steps clearly to customers, brokers, and cross-functional partners so disputes move toward timely resolution. 
• Uses Excel, ERP, trade-promotion, and reporting tools to connect detailed account activity with trends, root causes, and practical recommendations. 
• Applies sound judgment and personal accountability when investigating discrepancies, escalating risk, and improving processes in a fast-moving environment. 

 

Your experience should clearly demonstrate:

• Experience owning core accounts receivable work, including cash application, collections, account reconciliation, customer deductions, dispute resolution, and aging management for a portfolio of customer accounts. 
• Experience validating trade deductions, billbacks, promotions, pricing claims, or similar customer offsets against approved plans, contracts, and supporting documentation, then driving items through resolution. 
• Experience preparing accounts receivable reporting, analyzing payment or deduction trends, and supporting month-end close, reconciliations, accruals, audit requests, and internal controls. 
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience using ERP and trade-promotion management systems. Experience in the consumer packaged goods industry and familiarity with NetSuite, BluePlanner, and Power BI are preferred.
