Job Description:\n\nJob Title: Maintenance Technician\nJob Description\nThe Maintenance Technician installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in a commercial or industrial environment. This role also operates a variety of machine tools and assembles parts to fabricate tools, mechanisms, and machines that support both experimental and production activities. The technician ensures equipment reliability, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborates closely with engineering and production teams in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.\nResponsibilities\n\n Inspect and test machinery and equipment regularly to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.\n Diagnose equipment malfunctions by listening for unusual sounds, observing performance, and consulting with supervisors or other maintenance staff.\n Dismantle defective machines and equipment, identify root causes of failure, and install new or repaired parts to restore operation.\n Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other moving components to reduce wear and extend equipment life.\n Install, maintain, and repair electrical apparatus, including transformers, wiring, and electronic components, in accordance with safety and code requirements.\n Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment to support production processes.\n Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related control equipment to ensure accurate and stable system performance.\n Install, program, and repair automated machinery and equipment to support efficient and reliable production operations.\n Troubleshoot, repair, install, and program Omron PLCs, including making adjustments and updates to improve performance and reliability.\n Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, grinders, drills, and milling machines to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.\n Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts as needed for maintenance and fabrication tasks.\n Consult with engineers and other personnel to discuss equipment design, capacity, and intended purpose, ensuring that maintenance and modifications align with operational needs.\n Analyze specifications, drawings, sketches, and instructions to plan layouts and sequences of operations for fabrication and repair work.\n Design fixtures, tooling, and experimental parts to support special engineering projects and continuous improvement initiatives.\n Verify that machined and fabricated parts conform to specifications using appropriate measuring tools and inspection methods.\n Install parts and materials such as sheet metal, hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, lubricants, and batteries to complete equipment installations and upgrades.\n Recommend and support changes to equipment, processes, and layouts to improve efficiency, safety, and adaptability through Kaizen and other continuous improvement activities.\n Maintain and troubleshoot machining tools and equipment to minimize downtime and maintain consistent production quality.\n Perform basic welding tasks to support equipment repair, modification, and fabrication when required.\n Follow safety rules, operating procedures, and maintenance instructions, and contribute to a safe working environment by identifying and addressing potential hazards.\n Prepare and maintain routine reports and documentation related to maintenance activities, equipment status, and completed work.\n Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and production teams to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize disruption to operations.\n\nEssential Skills\n\n Ability to inspect, test, and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues on industrial machinery and equipment.\n Hands-on experience dismantling, repairing, and reassembling machines and equipment in a commercial or industrial setting.\n Proficiency in cleaning, lubricating, and maintaining mechanical components such as shafts, bearings, and gears.\n Ability to install and repair electrical apparatus, including transformers, wiring, and electronic components, following appropriate safety practices.\n Experience laying out, assembling, installing, and maintaining pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.\n Skill in repairing and replacing gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related control devices.\n Ability to install, program, and repair automated machinery and equipment, including Omron PLCs.\n Proficiency in troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and programming Omron PLCs used in production environments.\n Ability to set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, grinders, drills, and milling machines for repair and fabrication work.\n Capability to operate cutting torches and welding equipment to cut or join metal parts as part of maintenance and fabrication tasks.\n Strong ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to ensure correct part dimensions and fit.\n Understanding of tolerances and precision measurements, including the use of appropriate measuring tools to verify conformance to specifications.\n Knowledge of maintaining and troubleshooting machining tools to reduce downtime and maintain consistent performance.\n Basic welding skills to perform minor welding tasks when required for maintenance or fabrication.\n Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.\n Ability to write routine reports and correspondence related to maintenance activities and equipment status.\n Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees and communicate clearly with team members and supervisors.\n Basic algebra skills to support measurements, calculations, and technical problem-solving.\n Ability to interpret instructions delivered in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and translate them into effective action.\n Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and communicate as required by the role.\n Capability to regularly lift and move up to 100 pounds and frequently lift and move more than 100 pounds, with appropriate tools and assistance.\n Visual acuity including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus to safely perform detailed work.\n\nAdditional Skills & Qualifications\n\n Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.\n Certificate from a trade school or alternative certification in electrical, mechanical, or welding applications.\n Familiarity with CNC machines, including setup, operation, and minor programming adjustments.\n Experience with precision machining, including accurate operation of milling machines, lathes, and surface grinders.\n Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment with frequent machine operation and inspection tasks.\n Comfort working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.\n Experience designing fixtures, tooling, and experimental parts to support engineering and continuous improvement projects.\n Background in Kaizen or other continuous improvement methodologies, including recommending and implementing efficiency enhancements.\n Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in mechanical, electrical, and automation systems.\n Ability to work long shifts and mandatory overtime, including 10–12 hour shifts and 5–6 days per week when required.\n Willingness to work a rotating schedule with a 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM shift and a 4 days on, 4 days off pattern.\n Comfort working in environments with wet or humid
