Clinical Assistant Professor - Pediatrics (Behavioral Psychology)The Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Developmental and Behavioral Sciences at The University of Kansas Medical Center provides high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered psychological care for pediatric patients with behavioral and mental health concerns, including internalizing and externalizing disorders and other childhood and adolescent psychological concerns. This position is jointly employed by The University of Kansas Medical Center and The University of Kansas Health System and supports the clinical, educational, research, and service missions of both institutions. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the faculty member actively participates in the education and mentorship of learners, including medical students, residents, fellows, and other trainees. The individual also contributes to departmental and divisional academic activities through teaching, scholarly engagement, quality improvement, committee service, and other activities that advance the missions of the department, division, and institution.Job DutiesProvide specialized psychological assessment and treatment services for children and adolescents with behavioral and mental health concerns.Conduct psychological assessments and provide behavior therapy using current, evidence-based practices and techniques.Provide clinical services in outpatient and, as applicable, inpatient settings.Collaborate with patients, families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary clinical teams to support comprehensive patient care.Contribute to the education, training, and mentorship of learners, including medical students, residents, fellows, and graduate-level learners from a variety of disciplines.Participate in departmental and divisional meetings, case conferences, teaching rounds, seminars, quality improvement activities, scholarly activities, and other academic activities as assigned.Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain expertise in pediatric psychology, psychological assessment, behavioral intervention, and related areas of practice.This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements, institutional standards of academic and professional excellence, alignment with peer institution benchmarks, and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.Certifications/Licenses: Licensed Psychologist (LP) in Kansas with the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB), or eligible for licensure in Kansas.Work Experience:Experience conducting diagnostic evaluations and providing behavior therapy for children and adolescents with childhood mental health disorders.Experience collaborating with families of children and adolescents with mental health disorders.Preferred Qualifications:Work Experience:Experience providing clinical psychology services in an outpatient pediatric or behavioral pediatrics setting.Experience in the evaluation and treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).Experience providing trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT).Experience providing behavioral therapy for children with autism spectrum disorder and co-occurring behavioral or mental health concerns.Experience providing clinical teaching to graduate-level learners, medical students, pediatric residents, or other health professions learners.Required Documents:Resume/CVCover LetterIf selected as a final candidate for this position, you may be required to complete the Association of American of Universities Representations and Warranties document and sign a release of records that will allow the University of Kansas Medical Center to conduct a further background check with former employers.
