Physical Therapy Aide

Job Overview Assist Physical Therapists at Bristol Rehab Dynamics with routine therapy treatments and procedures, departmental paperwork, receptionist duties, and patient care workflow. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities Assist with physical therapy treatments and procedures under the direction of the Registered Physical Therapist. Process departmental paperwork, post daily schedules, and handle insurance information. Answer phones, schedule appointments, and manage co‑pay collection. Maintain inventory for outside vendors bi‑monthly and ensure clinic supplies are stocked. Fax reports and patient referrals while protecting confidentiality. Support therapists with patient care, communications, and monitoring during treatments. Perform general cleaning of clinical areas, equipment, and laundry supplies. Set up and tidy client areas, including packs, equipment, and safety calls. Monitor daily clinic flow, notify therapists of changes and manage no‑shows or cancellations. Record exercise program repetitions, weights, and tolerances; observe patients for proper form. Interpersonal Communication Inform therapists of patients’ conditions before, during, and after treatment. Communicate clearly and non‑judgmentally with patients, therapists, and coworkers. Ask for assistance in a concise manner and use appropriate non‑verbal cues. Cleaning Duties Complete all daily cleaning activities and maintain laundry supply inventory. Keep equipment clean and report malfunctions to the relevant department. Inspect laundry delivery issues with the laundry department. Daily Operations Maintain constant client flow; monitor arrivals without reliance on clerical staff. Communicate schedule changes, cancellations, and reschedules to therapists. Prioritize tasks efficiently and seek assistance when needed. Exercise Programs Record repetitions, sets, reps, weight, and tolerance levels. Apply proper exercise techniques taught in the PT aide in‑house training program. Check patient form during equipment use or exercise programs. Inform therapists of program difficulty and suggest adjustments. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong clerical and office supporting abilities. No state/federal licensing or certification required. Hospital Training Requirements General orientation at hire. Fire, safety, and infection control training annually. Additional hospital‑mandated programs as required. Physical Requirements Physical agility including prolonged walking, standing, kneeling, bending, twisting, and reaching. Capacity to lift >50 lbs up to forty times daily and Proficiency in verbal communication understandable to the average person. Work Environment Frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals and bodily substances. Regular contact with a diverse range of clients. Cognitive Requirements Ability to read, comprehend, and execute written and oral instructions. Basic math skills.
