Schedule: Full-Time | Hybrid / Flexible | 3 Days In-Office Weekly

The Position: We are seeking a Senior Healthcare Planner to take a leadership role in the programming and planning of complex healthcare environments.

• This position sits at the intersection of c linical operations, strategic planning, programming, architecture, and design. You'll work directly with healthcare executives, clinicians, user groups, architects, and project teams to understand how healthcare organizations operate and translate those needs into thoughtful, efficient planning solutions.
• The ideal candidate brings significant healthcare planning experience along with a strong understanding of California healthcare environments, HCAI / OSHPD requirements, clinical workflows, and patient-centered design .

What You'll Do

• Lead healthcare programming and medical planning across complex projects.
• Develop strategic planning concepts for hospitals, clinical environments, ambulatory facilities, and other healthcare spaces.
• Work directly with clients, clinicians, department leaders, and user groups to identify operational and programmatic needs.
• Lead programming, visioning, user-group meetings, workshops, and planning sessions.
• Analyze patient, staff, equipment, material, and clinical workflows.
• Translate operational requirements into efficient architectural planning solutions.
• Develop departmental layouts, space programs, blocking and stacking studies, and planning concepts.
• Collaborate with architects, interior designers, technical teams, equipment planners, engineers, and specialty consultants.
• Support planning for renovations, expansions, modernization projects, and new healthcare environments.
• Integrate Healthcare (HCAI / OSHPD) requirements into planning and design decisions.
• Participate in client presentations, interviews, proposals, and business development initiatives.
• Mentor healthcare planners, designers, and emerging professionals.
• Help strengthen client relationships and contribute to continued growth of the healthcare practice.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Planning, or related field.
• Architectural license or relevant healthcare/design credentials *required / mandatory
• 10+ years of healthcare architecture, medical planning, or healthcare design experience preferred.
• Strong portfolio of complex healthcare planning projects .
• Healthcare (HCAI / OSHPD) project experience *required / mandatory
• Experience with hospitals, acute care, inpatient/outpatient facilities, ambulatory care, clinical environments, or related medical projects.
• Advanced understanding of clinical operations, medical planning, programming, and healthcare workflows.
• Ability to lead programming and user-group discussions with clinicians and senior healthcare stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of healthcare codes, accessibility, life safety, and California regulatory requirements.
• Revit proficiency preferred.
• Strong graphic, presentation, communication, and client-facing skills.
• Ability to translate complex operational requirements into clear and effective planning solutions.
• Strong leadership, collaboration, mentorship, and relationship-building capabilities.
