Registered Nurse - Interventional Radiology

Description Our interventional radiology department is a four‑procedure‑room suite providing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for inpatient, outpatient, and Emergency Department patients. Working with a team of medical imaging staff, we provide scheduled procedures Monday‑Saturday and are available for emergent treatment on a 24‑hour basis. Our highly trained nurses deliver comprehensive interdisciplinary care for stable and critically ill patients from the time they arrive in the department until their departure. The interventional radiology nurses also provide care to patients in all medical imaging areas—including diagnostic x‑ray, nuclear medicine, MRI, ultrasound, and CT scan. Employment Type Full Time Shift Day Shift Responsibilities Collaborate, communicate, and facilitate optimal care with interventional radiologists, vascular surgeons, and imaging staff. Assess, plan, implement, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate the patient’s plan of care from arrival to transfer out of the procedural area. Monitor and assist with procedures, delivering care modalities including the care of critically ill patients in the lab. Utilize clinical knowledge, critical‑thinking skills, and principles of case management and adult education to support the plan of care. Ensure a seamless, effective, and efficient transition of care across the continuum. Monitor quality metrics specific to the department and ensure complete and accurate documentation in the patient record. Act as mentor, educator, consultant/collaborator, and navigator for students and new colleagues. Education, Training, Experience, Certification and Licensure Current licensure, or eligibility for licensure, in the State of New York. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing; a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BSN) according to NYS requirements. National certification preferred, along with 1–2 years of acute medical‑surgical or ICU experience. Orientation, continuing education, and updates to maintain knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise. Physical Demands Medium effort: must lift 25 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 50 pounds; ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat, and reach. Occasional exposure to conditions that may be particularly disagreeable to sight, touch, sound, smell, and taste; may encounter fumes, dusts, mists, gases, and biohazards, as well as mechanical, electrical, burns, chemical, radiation, and sharp‑object hazards. Requires physical and mental capability to perform nursing processes. Work Contact Group All services, medical staff, patients, visitors, and various regulatory and professional agencies. Supervised By Team Leader, Clinical Coordinator, Unit Manager, and Clinical Services/Nursing Administration. Pay Range $38.75 – $54.85 per hour, based on experience, skills, and education.
