WTA consultants provide expert guidance on trip preparation, physical and mental readiness, working with guides and operators, and handling often-overlooked details such as gratuities. The company also operates an in-house, full-service travel agency that manages all logistics for adventure travel, including specialized needs like traveling with equipment and handling trophies. In addition, WTA’s travel specialists can support clients with regular business and family travel needs, creating a comprehensive, one-stop service for outdoor enthusiasts. Role Description The WORLDWIDE FISHING CONSULTANT is a full-time, hybrid role based in Sidney, NE, with flexibility for some work from home. The consultant will advise clients on global fishing destinations, match them with suitable outfitters, and design customized itineraries that align with their preferences, experience level, and budget. Daily responsibilities include communicating with clients via phone, email, and video calls, gathering trip requirements, recommending locations and seasons, and explaining expectations for each adventure. The role also involves collaborating with the in-house travel agency to coordinate flights, accommodations, and logistics such as equipment transport, permits, and trophy handling. The consultant will maintain detailed knowledge of fishing operations worldwide, update internal databases with current conditions and offerings, and support marketing efforts by contributing destination insights and client feedback. Qualifications Strong client advisory skills, including active listening, clear communication, and the ability to translate client goals into tailored fishing itineraries. In-depth knowledge or strong interest in recreational and trophy fishing, including species, seasons, methods, and global destinations. Experience with travel planning or tourism services, such as coordinating flights, accommodations, and special logistics for adventure travel. Proficiency with common office and communication tools (email, CRM systems, video conferencing, and productivity software) to manage client relationships and bookings. Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with outfitters, guides, and travel partners, ensuring consistent service quality. Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple client trips simultaneously and meet deadlines. Comfort working in a hybrid environment, attending on-site work in Sidney, NE and effectively managing tasks from home. Prior experience in outdoor recreation, guiding, travel consulting, or sales is beneficial; a background in customer-facing roles is highly valued.
