About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: IMC - Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours, weekends as scheduled Experience: Minimum 2 years of Stepdown/PCU experience License: Valid RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Must be comfortable with cardiac monitoring and cardiac drips - Experience with titrating drips, including cardizem, amiodarone, nitroglycerin, heparin, dopamine, dobutamine, and angiomax Description: - The unit has 30 beds with a nurse to patient ratio of 1: 4-6 depending on acuity. - Common patient diagnoses include cardiac patients, post pneumonia, post cath lab cases, seizures, and alcohol withdrawal. - CIWA protocols and pacemaker management are utilized on this unit. - Charge nurses are present on each shift, with day shift charge assuming a lighter patient assignment as necessary. - Nurse aids and patient care techs are available to assist with activities of daily living, vitals, bathing, toileting, feeding, repositioning, answering call lights, and blood sugar checks. - Clientists and intensivists are available on-call at night, with respiratory therapy support provided 24/7. - Respiratory therapy equipment is available, with nurses expected to troubleshoot as needed. - Monitor techs are available 24/7, and nurses are expected to read and interpret telemetry strips. - A general orientation process is scheduled prior to beginning the assignment. - Self-scheduling is allowed for shifts, and the unit holds weekend and holiday rotation requirements. - Travelers may float to any inpatient unit. - Scrub color is navy blue.
