RN - Medical Progressive Care Unit

The Medical Progressive Care Unit at Johns Hopkins Hospital is a 21-bed high acuity step‑down unit, caring for critically ill adult medical patients. Patient population includes those with complex organ disease, requiring mechanical ventilation, vasoactive drips, and continuous monitoring. The unit is also known as a mobile hospice unit and a clinical research unit. Common medical diagnoses include sepsis, respiratory failure, GI bleed, liver failure, and DKA. This is a highly skilled floor, from which new staff will gain instrumental experience. Nurse‑to‑patient ratios are 2:1 or 3:1 depending on acuity. Applicants with an Associate Degree in Nursing will be considered. Per nursing guidelines, must matriculate to Bachelors of Nursing program. Active BLS via AHA, American Red Cross or Military Training Network at time of hire. Active Maryland RN or Compact License at time of hire. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
