Our organization is on the lookout for a Chief of Endocrinology to enhance our expanding Division of Endocrinology!

We are eager to welcome an exceptional Physician-Scientist to take on the role of Chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Bone Disease within our Department of Medicine. Our institution ranks among the top 10-12 nationally for NIH funding and is situated in a picturesque area of New York City, conveniently located near 5th Avenue and Central Park. The Endocrinology Division operates several satellite clinics throughout the city and excels in managing Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, MASH, MAFLD, obesity, thyroid disorders, adrenal conditions, pituitary issues, and reproductive health. Additionally, we host one of the largest automated insulin delivery (AID) system programs in the United States.

Key Responsibilities

Division Administration: The Chief will oversee the comprehensive management of the Division, which includes:

• Formulating strategic plans and objectives for the Division that align with the Department of Medicine and the broader health system.

• Managing all financial, operational, and personnel matters within the Division and the health system.

• Supervising divisional faculty, including the recruitment of new members.

• Enhancing the Division's national reputation through scholarship, education, and innovation in clinical practice, particularly in relation to population health management.

Clinical Duties: The Division Chief will:

• Oversee the management of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Bone Disease, focusing on developing an academically driven training program, expanding clinical services, and maintaining a financially sustainable operation.

• Handle administrative tasks such as conducting annual performance reviews for faculty and staff, preparing budget reports, and coordinating staffing while adhering to departmental policies.

• Guide the development of clinical practices, including the strategic growth of two Sinai Doctors faculty practices located on the Upper West Side.

• Advance a patient-centered, outcomes-oriented practice in collaboration with health system initiatives like the Metabolic, Body Composition, and Sports Performance Clinic and the Clinical Weight Loss Program.

• Ensure the delivery of exceptional care to both inpatients and outpatients.

• Manage physician coverage, educational responsibilities, and the organizational aspects of the division's clinic.

Education and Mentorship: The Division Chief will:

• Demonstrate a strong record of mentorship across all levels, promoting the development of both Clinician-Educators and Clinician-Researchers.

• Create innovative educational objectives that align with the goals of the Graduate Medical Education (GME) system and the Department of Medicine.

• Support the evolution of new curricula within the Endocrinology Fellowship Program.

• Oversee all educational activities within the Division, including training for medical students, house staff, fellowship programs, and continuing medical education, ensuring a comprehensive curriculum.

• Develop educational goals that comply with the guidelines set by the Residency Review Committee.

• Ensure fellowship training programs meet ABIM and Residency Review Committee standards, preparing for future evaluations.

• Lead the establishment of an NIH-funded research program, including the submission of Program Project or Center Grant applications and securing NIH training grants.

• Encourage the professional growth of junior faculty through mentorship and exemplary leadership.

• Drive the expansion of both inpatient and outpatient clinical services, including faculty practice.

Qualifications

• Applicants must possess an MD or DO degree.

• Eligibility for a New York medical license is required, along with board certification or eligibility in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism; preference will be given to candidates with advanced degrees.

• Significant experience in clinical practice development, mentorship, and faculty management is highly desirable.

• Experience and accomplishments suitable for a faculty appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level are required.

• Demonstrated leadership experience in academic medicine, clinical practice, or professional organizations is essential.

• National recognition in clinical, translational, and/or basic research is expected.

• Candidates should possess the necessary experience and leadership qualities to articulate a vision for sustaining and expanding the Division's missions while fostering a collaborative work environment.

• High character and a consistent leadership style are essential.

• Ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, demonstrating openness to differences and building inclusive networks.

• Strong interpersonal skills are crucial for working harmoniously within a diverse academic and clinical setting.

The compensation for this position ranges from $375,000 to $500,000, excluding bonuses, incentive compensation, or benefits.
