Travelers must have experience with all common titratable and/or set rate drips such as amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, heparin, nitroglycerin, and insulin. No first-time travelers. Must have one successfully completed assignment. Prefer experience with TAVR and CABG. Description: This position involves working in a PCU focused on cardiac care. The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 during the day and 1:5 at night. The unit has 36 beds and may include some mixed medical-surgical and PCU patients. Common diagnoses include CHF, NSTEMI, MI, heart block, and TAVR. Nurses will assist in the care of post-surgical, respiratory failure, and sepsis patients, among others. The nurse will be responsible for reading telemetry and may troubleshoot equipment such as BiPAP and high-flow oxygen. There is a charge nurse on each shift who is typically free of patient assignment but may take a couple of patients on rare occasions. Weekend requirements include working four weekend days per month. Holidays require working three out of five designated holidays. Floating may be required to the ICU and medical-surgical floors within the patient population. Scrub color is navy blue. One shift of unit-specific orientation will be provided. The charting system used is EPIC.
