Press brake operator

Randstad has partnered with one of Long Island's premier precision custom metal fabrication companies to find a skilled Press Brake Operator. Our client handles high-quality custom fabrications, structural components, and architectural metalwork for a variety of major industries.

salary: $23 - $27 per hour
shift: First
work hours: 6:30 AM - 3 PM
education: High School

Responsibilities

• Machine Setup & Operation: Perform full setups on CNC press brakes (such as Amada, Cincinnati, or Trumpf), including selecting, installing, and aligning the proper punch and die tooling.
• Blueprint & Schematic Literacy: Read and interpret detailed fabrication blueprints, structural drawings, and geometric dimensions (GD&T) to determine exact bend sequences, bend allowances, and material thickness factors.
• Programming & Adjustments: Enter component dimensions into the CNC controller, execute test bends, and make precise depth/back-gauge adjustments to correct for material springback.
• Quality Control Inspection: Conduct routine first-piece and in-process visual and dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, protractors, and go/no-go gauges to ensure parts conform perfectly to technical tolerances.
• Material Handling & Safety: Safely handle, position, and flip heavy sheet metal blanks into the machine, strictly adhering to all shop safety protocols and machine safeguarding procedures.

The essential functions of this role include:
