POSITION TITLE: HVAC Mechanic FLSA: Non-Exempt SALARY: $18.64 hourly - Entry Level WORK DAYS: 249 LOCATION: Plant Services Department REPORTS TO: Regional Coordinator Position will remain open until filled. Primary Function: The job of HVAC Mechanic is done for the purpose/s of maintaining heating/air conditioning systems; identifying repair and/or replacement needs; providing necessary information on the proper uses of the equipment; and ensuring adequate materials are available to complete assignments in a timely manner. REQUIREMENTS: 1. Educational Level: High School Diploma or GED preferred; Job related education with study in job-related area. 2. Certification/License Required: Valid EPA Type II license required; Valid Driver’s License 3. Experience: Minimum three years HVAC experience or technical college certificate/diploma in HVAC 4. Physical Activities: Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities; able to work at heights using extension ladder, hydraulic lift or scaffolding; able to lift up to 30 lbs. unassisted 5. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Written and oral communication; knowledge of electrical codes, safety measures, and power requirements. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 1. Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work unit. 2. Coordinates with administration and other trades for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently. 3. Diagnoses problems and/or failures in heating/air conditioning/refrigeration systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and replacement needs. 4. Installs heating/air conditioning/refrigeration equipment and systems for the purpose of providing comfort inside facilities. 5. Maintains tools and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe, operating condition. 6. Prepares documentation for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information. 7. Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items. 8. Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns. 9. Transports various items (e.g., tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site. 10. Works on and repairs various systems (e.g., gauges, pumps, motors, chillers, etc.) for the purpose of restoring equipment to good working condition. 11. Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient, effective functioning of the work unit.
