Senior Software Engineer

About the Role Join a well‑funded AI and robotics startup tackling some of the hardest open problems in the field. This is a senior individual contributor role for engineers who are obsessed with novel, technically difficult challenges — the kind that don't have existing solutions. You'll work across systems‑level infrastructure, real‑time AI state management, custom OS development, and UX grounded in human psychology and organisational behaviour. What You'll Do Design and build custom database and memory systems from scratch. Implement real‑time LLM token state management at large scale. Develop custom Unix OS distributions tailored for both humans and AI agents. Rethink UX paradigms using insights from organisational behaviour and human psychology. Pursue compounding micro‑optimisations across the full stack. Work onsite 5 days a week in San Francisco. What We're Looking For Required: Deep obsession with novel, overlooked, or technically unsolved problems. Required: Demonstrated ability to build large, complex, and maintainable systems in roughly one‑third the time most engineers consider possible. Required: Proficiency in one or more of: TypeScript, Rust, Python. Required: Experience with graph databases, flexible data pipelines, or ontological modelling. Comfort applying psychology and organisational behaviour insights to product and UX decisions. Signal of outlier intelligence — top academic background or standout real‑world experience (non‑traditional backgrounds welcome).
