Quality Assurance Manager

Our client, a family-owned company, manufactures precision metal stampings using progressive, compound, and deep-draw stamping processes. It also designs and builds tooling and dies, producing high-volume components for the automotive, aerospace, electrical, appliance, transportation, and heavy equipment industries.

Job Description

Responsibilities include:

• Reviewing specifications for products or processes.
• Managing the monitoring, measurement, and review of internal processes that affect the quality of the organization's products.
• Handling and resolving product and service quality issues with customers and suppliers.
• Managing process and product audits, testing, and inspections to lead the team in continuous improvement initiatives and processes.
• Overseeing inspection of incoming materials, ensuring that they meet requirements.
• Keeping accurate documentation and performing statistical analysis.
• Looking for opportunities to develop new or improve existing procedures and processes.
• Supervising QC department staff and providing guidance and feedback.
• Supervising inspections, reports, and the documents issued by inspectors, and collecting and filing the required quality records.
• Being responsible for the accurate and timely inspection and calibration of monitoring and measuring devices.
• Staying up to date on applicable industry standards, regulations, laws, issues, and news related to product and service quality.
• Demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Recommending ways to improve the manufacturing process to ensure the highest-quality products.
• Supporting and participating in all external and internal audits.
• Performing internal audits, preparing reports, and recommending process improvements.
• Ensuring adherence to health and safety policies and legal obligations.
• Initiating supplier nonconformance (NC) reports, managing them to timely closure, monitoring and evaluating supplier performance, implementing corrective actions as needed, and collaborating with suppliers to improve the quality of their products and services.
• Strictly following safety regulations during all activities, keeping equipment in proper working condition to prevent hazards and protect employees.

The Successful Applicant

Requirements include:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or an equivalent technical discipline.
• Minimum of 15 years of QA/QC experience, including at least 5 years in the metal stamping industry; ASQ certification is a plus.
• Experience with ISO 9001 quality management systems, IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, developing and reviewing project quality plans, and purchase order or contract documents.
• Proven ability to lead a QC staff.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word; project management experience is a plus.
• Excellent communication and listening skills, with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels.
• Excellent math skills and working knowledge of data analysis and statistical methods.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and supervisory skills.
• Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing preferred.
