Manufacturing TechnicianThis Manufacturing Technician role supports production operations at a growing plastics manufacturing facility in Charleston. You will operate and monitor plastic extrusion and fabrication equipment, maintain product quality, and help keep production running smoothly in a fast-paced industrial environment. The position is hands-on, mechanically focused, and ideal for someone who enjoys working with machines, solving problems on the floor, and contributing to a team that prioritizes safety and quality.ResponsibilitiesOperate and monitor production equipment used in plastic extrusion and fabrication to ensure consistent, efficient output.Set up machines for production runs, including loading raw materials, adjusting machine settings, and verifying correct configurations.Perform routine inspections and in-process checks to ensure products meet quality specifications and customer requirements.Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues on production equipment and escalate more complex maintenance needs to the appropriate team.Maintain accurate production, downtime, and quality documentation in accordance with plant procedures.Follow all safety procedures and policies, including the proper use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards to support operational efficiency and safety.Collaborate closely with maintenance, quality, and leadership teams to resolve issues and improve processes.Support hands-on troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems as needed to maintain uptime.Work effectively in a fast-paced, production-driven environment while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality.Essential Skills1+ year of manufacturing, production, or machine operation experience preferred.Mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn and operate extrusion or plastics processing equipment.Ability to read basic measurements and follow written and verbal work instructions accurately.Comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled industrial environment with heat, humidity, and noise.Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks safely.Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to safety and quality.Experience working in fast-paced, 24/7 production environments.Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills; exposure to electrical and hydraulic systems is a plus.Familiarity with PLCs, automated equipment, or preventive maintenance programs is a plus.Ability to read schematics and blueprints to support troubleshooting and machine setup.Additional Skills & QualificationsPlastics, extrusion, or industrial manufacturing experience preferred.Experience as a process technician or in similar production roles is beneficial.Exposure to electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems in an industrial setting.Comfort working with automated systems, PLC-controlled equipment, and production monitoring tools.Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including maintenance and quality.Willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including days and nights, with overtime as needed.Why Work Here?You will join a stable, growing organization with a global footprint that offers long-term career potential and skill development. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, and the plant maintains a clean, organized environment relative to heavier industrial settings. Current hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; however, the schedule may transition to a rotating 12-hour shift structure after the contract period. The rotating schedule typically involves working 15 days per month, alternating between 48 hours one week and 36 hours the next, with shifts rotating between days and nights (such as 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.). You can expect a fast-paced, production-driven team environment focused on uptime, safety, and hands-on troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charleston, SC.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
