Direct Support Professional (Part-Time – 12 Hours Per Week)Important Requirement: All new hires must complete 7 days of orientation (8:30 AM – 4:00 PM) prior to starting at a residential or day program site.Position: Direct Support Professional (Part-Time – 12 Hours per Week) Location: Summerville (Drayton/Magnolia) Pay Rate: $17.00 per hour Overtime: Available Experience: No experience required – Paid training provided Schedule: Saturday/Sunday 8:00am-8:00pm every other**Position SummaryThe Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides support, supervision, and training to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a Community Training Home (CTH). The DSP helps individuals achieve independence, safety, and personal development in accordance with agency values and procedures.Essential Responsibilities & DutiesProfessionalism & ConductMaintain professional behavior and follow agency mission, policies, and proceduresTreat individuals and coworkers with dignity and respect at all timesSupport individuals to achieve personal outcomes and a high quality of lifePromote an environment that is free from abuse and neglect, respecting the rights and dignity of individuals and coworkersRemain on duty until properly relievedHealth & Safety SupportAssist individuals in maintaining safe and healthy lifestylesMonitor and report changes in individuals' health and daily routinesSupport prescribed diets, adaptive equipment use, and safety drillsFollow proper lifting and mobility assistance techniquesDaily Living & Skill DevelopmentProvide hands-on support with hygiene, grooming, and daily living tasksPrepare meals and snacks based on dietary needsEncourage participation in chores, activities, and life skills trainingImplement and document Individual Support Plans (ISPs) and behavior programsDocumentation & CommunicationComplete accurate documentation in Therap and other required forms (e.g., T-Logs, GERs, ISP data)Communicate changes or incidents to supervisors and nursing staffMaintain confidentiality and protect agency-issued credentialsTransportation & Community EngagementSafely transport individuals to activities, appointments, and outingsOperate agency vehicles, wheelchair lifts, and restraints as trainedFollow agency transportation and safety protocolsMedication & Financial AssistanceAdminister medications and treatments per agency policyComplete Medication Administration Records (MARs)Support individuals with financial transactions, receipts, and account documentationAdditional DutiesPerform general housekeeping duties, including cleaning all rooms of the home – such as bedrooms, common areas, kitchen, and bathrooms.Report maintenance or repair needsAttend meetings and complete ongoing training as requiredPerform related duties as assigned to support the agency's mission and operational needsLead DSP DutiesMonitor staff-completed MARs for accuracy and report issues in TherapSupport Alliant licensing reviews by ensuring all required documentation is complete, accurate, and readily availablePlan weekly meals and complete grocery shopping with individual dietary needs and preferencesConduct individual personal shopping as neededComplete and submit household purchase orders and maintenance work orders in a timely mannerProvide Rights and Abuse prevention training to individuals in compliance with agency and state requirementsOversee and manage the financial accounts of individuals, including budgeting, receipts, and reconciliation (major responsibility)Maintain current Personal Property Inventory for each individual, ensuring documentation is accurate and items are safeguardedPhysical Demands and Working ConditionsLift up to 50 lbs; assist with adult transfers as neededFrequent movement: standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and liftingWork indoors and outdoors in varied environmentsPossible exposure to communicable diseases and physical aggressionUse of safety equipment (gloves, eye/ear protection) may be requiredMay be assigned to alternate locations or shiftsMust operate agency vehicles safely, including at nightPerformance Requirements - Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesClear written English communicationAbility to follow directions and work independentlyPositive interpersonal skills, time management, good judgment and accountabilityEducation & Experience & LicenseHigh School Diploma or GED (required) and Minimum age: 18One year working with individuals with developmental disabilities (preferred)Valid South Carolina Driver's License and acceptable driving record requiredEssential Personnel NoticeThis position is classified as Essential. In the event of emergencies, natural disasters, or other urgent circumstances, DSPs may be required to report to work to ensure the health and safety of individuals receiving services.
