Job Summary The Recreation Specialist is responsible for coordinating the activities of recreation service personnel and assisting with the management of the Sports Center. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent education At least one year of previous experience in a similar position Must be able to pass certification for youth care as applicable Responsibilities and Duties Assist in developing and promoting the recreation program, including sports, music, arts and crafts, swimming, social recreation and games Assist in the implementation of recreational, sports, and temporary child‑care programs for members and guests, for Kids Korral activities, advertised activities, and special social activities for all ages as directed Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing youth and adult recreational, social, sports and fitness programs for members and guests Assist the Assistant Activities Director in planning and coordinating adult and youth recreation and social events Assist in compiling records and maintaining files for historical records of all social, recreation and private events held at the Sports Center Assist in introducing new program activities, equipment, and materials to staff and participate in community meetings and organizational planning as directed Work in teams with Sports Center administrative or other professional personnel to ensure recreation is well balanced, coordinated, and integrated with the management philosophy of the tournament players club Instruct members and guests on operating procedures for equipment in the fitness room and ensure regulation compliance Assist in all Sports Center operations as delegated by the Activities Director and/or Assistant Activities Director Act as manager on duty in the absence of the Activities Director and/or the Assistant Activities Director Physical Demands and Working Environment Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, kneel, use hands to handle or feel, and talk or hear. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Requires close vision, depth perception, color vision, distance and peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. Must comply with all applicable federal, state and local safety and health regulations. Travel Travel not expected for this position. Work Schedule Expectations This position requires shifts as necessary based on business levels. Supervisory Responsibility This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
