Custom Cake Decorator – Job Duties

• Create and decorate custom cakes, cupcakes, and desserts according to customer orders, designs, themes, and special requests.
• Prepare cakes, fillings, frostings, icings, and decorative elements while maintaining consistent quality and presentation.
• Work with FOH to understand order/design vision, provide design suggestions, and ensure orders meet their expectations.
• Use professional cake decorating techniques including piping, fondant work, buttercream decorating, edible artwork, lettering, sculpting, and other specialty techniques.
• Accurately follow cake sketches, reference photos, color schemes, and written order specifications.
• Complete custom cake orders within established deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
• Prepare and assemble cake layers, fillings, decorations, and finishing details.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary decorating area in accordance with food safety standards.
• Properly handle, store, label, and rotate ingredients and finished products.
• Inspect completed cakes for quality, accuracy, appearance, and stability before customer pickup or delivery.
• Assist with packaging and safely preparing finished cakes for transport.
• Keep decorating tools, equipment, and workstations clean and properly maintained.
• Monitor inventory of decorating supplies and communicate when ingredients or materials need to be replenished.
• Provide friendly and professional customer service and assist with boh sanitation duties.
• Stay current with cake decorating trends, techniques, and creative designs.
• Follow company policies, food safety procedures, and quality standards.
• Work efficiently both independently and as part of a bakery team.
