Small Business Banking Consultant Sr

Job Summary A Senior Small Business Banking Consultant is responsible for managing and growing Small Business client relationships across the Consumer Bank, offering a full suite of financial products and services. Responsibilities Meet with clients via telephone to assess needs, review financial practices, and conduct cash cycle conversations. Provide recommendations for deposits, loans, credit cards, merchant services, payroll, ACH/Wires, treasury services, insurance, and investments. Perform application and fulfillment processes for selected solutions. Make product referrals to specialists as needed. Resolve complex servicing issues and maintain knowledge of internal resources. Proactively contact targeted clients, share Flagstar's value, and set up appointments for deeper financial reviews. Facilitate credit requests within Consumer Bank thresholds and refer larger opportunities to the Commercial Bank. Refer clients to the Treasury Management Team. Meet quarterly revenue and profit growth targets. Execute special projects and additional duties as required. Adhere to regulatory and compliance policies, complete required trainings, and maintain compliance with applicable laws. Qualifications Required Education: Undergraduate Degree (4 years) or equivalent experience. Required Experience: 7+ years of sales/client relationship management in banking or financial products; significant experience with small business clients. Preferred Education: Undergraduate Degree in a business‑related major. Preferred Experience: 7+ years as a Small Business Banker, Business Banking Relationship Manager, or Branch Leader/Manager; 7+ years of phone‑based sales; formal credit training; small business banking sales training. Desired Skills: Mentoring and developing less experienced team members. In‑depth knowledge of small business deposit and lending products. Strong credit acumen and ability to analyze financial statements and cash flow. Proficient prospecting, relationship management, and sales skills. Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and influencing skills. Excellent customer service, community relations, and teamwork. Knowledge of banking regulations and compliance (Reg B, ECOA, HMDA, FIRREA, CRA, etc.). Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and align efforts with enterprise goals. Ability to foster a positive work culture and productive environment.
