Patient Care Manager (RN), Cancer Center ITA Operations

The Patient Care Manager (RN) is a Nurse Leader responsible for overseeing Monday‑Friday operations of the Oncology Infusion Treatment sites at Redwood City and Emeryville. Clinical Nurses and PCCs report directly to the manager. The manager provides unit leadership and works with nursing and healthcare teams to develop a quality practice setting that supports professional nursing and superior patient care. Responsibilities Clinical Practice Plan, organize, and direct nursing services of the unit(s), including patient assessment, implementation of physicians' orders, treatment plans, medical procedures, medication administration, and record keeping. Monitor and evaluate patient care processes and outcomes and coordinate nursing activities with other services. Demonstrate clinical competency and model nursing practice consistent with the organization’s mission, vision, and values. Communication Communicate clearly and effectively to enhance team effectiveness, manage conflicts, and engage employees and interdisciplinary colleagues. Collaborate with unit and hospital departments to enhance problem solving, decision making, and performance improvement. Fiscal Accountability Plan and forecast the department budget, calculate required FTES, plan annual budgets, interpret payroll and other key fiscal reports, and project workload. Perform variance analysis, identify key drivers, and identify unit/capital budget needs. Plan and implement staff scheduling, position controls, and attendance control procedures. Human Resources Direct personnel management of employees assigned to the department in compliance with state and federal labor laws, collective bargaining agreements, and hospital policy. Oversee hiring, training, orientation, precepting, evaluation, performance appraisals, and disciplinary actions. Leadership Assume 24‑hour responsibility and accountability for the operation of the assigned patient care unit(s), service(s), staff, and facilities. Plan, organize, and direct short and long‑term departmental activities in accordance with hospital goals and accrediting organization standards. Provide leadership and direction for staff while supporting and actualizing department, division, service, and hospital goals. Serve as a resource to staff and interdisciplinary team members and consult on nursing care and professional practice. Performance Improvement Monitor unit operations and use data to assess performance. Achieve patient and staff satisfaction targets and implement process‑improvement projects to continually improve patient care. Professional Development Facilitate professional development and clinical growth of nursing staff through unit‑specific competencies and educational opportunities. Promote and facilitate education based on staff needs assessment. Quality Management Support the quality framework, including clinical and service quality indicators. Create a patient‑care environment that is safe, effective, patient‑centered, timely, efficient, and equitable. Qualifications Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university. California Registered Nurse (RN) license. Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Contribute to health‑care policy formulation in partnership with a multidisciplinary team. Delegate responsibly and develop programs and lead process‑improvement projects. Establish strategic direction and business plans for a functional group. Implement change conducive to improving quality and safety of patient‑care delivery. Provide leadership, influence others, prioritize system resources, promote cooperative behaviors, and act as a role model, resource, and mentor. Supervise, coach, mentor, train, and evaluate work results. Use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision‑making in patient care. Know current theories, principles, practices, standards, emerging technologies, and techniques in nursing and health‑care systems. Understand laws, regulations, standards, and guidelines of certifying and accrediting bodies, as well as hospital and unit protocols. Apply principles of organization, administration, fiscal, and personnel management essential to nursing practice. Base Pay Scale Generally starting at $89.01 - $117.94 per hour.
