Job Summary The Analytics & Clinical Effectiveness (A&CE) Specialist at Stanford Medicine Children’s Health is a key contributor to the Analytics & Clinical Effectiveness Department within the Center for Pediatric & Maternal Value (cpmV). The role involves collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams and serves as an analytical thought partner to a successful clinical effectiveness program, emphasizing efficient and effective care management and innovative clinical process redesign. The specialist is responsible for in‑depth data discovery, curating and analyzing comprehensive healthcare data to reveal impactful insights and support data‑driven decision making and improvements. They translate complex business questions into effective analytics solutions, such as Business Intelligence reports, statistical models or interactive data visualizations, serving as a steward of data integrity and best practices. With a high sense of curiosity and keen attention to detail, the specialist integrates project management and improvement science to interpret analytic findings, communicate insights effectively, and support clinical performance improvement. The specialist identifies opportunities for improvement via evidence‑based practices, regulatory and accrediting agency requirements, and current performance in Quality, Safety, Service and Equity Key Performance Indicators. The specialist will collaborate with various business units for key elements of SMCH’s Quality portfolio. Examples include Clinical Effectiveness Programs; Quality Improvement; Performance Improvement; Patient Safety; Peer Review; Infection Prevention & Control; Accreditation and Regulatory Compliance; Patient & Family Experience; Health Equity; IS‑Analytics; IS‑Clinical Informatics; Financial Planning & Decision Support; and various Patient Care Service lines/units/clinics. Essential Functions Develop, implement, and automate reporting solutions by working with stakeholders in design, planning, implementation, ensuring consistency. Evaluate and summarize data, create summary statistics, develop data reports, visualizations, and BI reports, report findings, identify new reporting needs, prepare documentation. Interpret data analyses, apply findings to context, develop insights, reports and presentations that tell a compelling story, provide context of interpretations and limitations. Drive strategic data‑informed decisions by consulting stakeholders, identifying business needs, developing outcomes and process measures, translating requirements, determining data collection methods, developing analysis plans, measuring impact, identifying operational improvements, supporting and training end‑users, documenting processes. Develop analytic/statistical models for informed decisions, test and validate models. Research and design effective analytics strategies to measure and improve departmental and organizational goals. Collaborate with quality & performance teams to develop measures for monitoring outcomes and process improvement. Provide consultative and analytic expertise to cpmV and interdisciplinary teams in data models and systems; act as a resource for interpretation and use of data. Represent as authority on Quality, Safety, Service and Equity analytics at meetings and committees. Collaborate internally and externally to achieve optimal outcomes and improve clinical performance. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution. Master’s degree preferred. Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience; five (5) years preferred. Licensure/Certification: None required. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Use statistics to evaluate and interpret data, summarize results, make judgments, recommend quality and process improvements. Creative, self‑starter, high‑energy, with excellent tact for handling confidential issues. Advanced quantitative and relational database tools: Excel, SQL, R/Python/SAS/STATA. Business Intelligence reporting and data visualization tools: SAP BO, Power BI, Tableau. Outstanding organization and project planning; prioritize multiple projects; meet deadlines. Experience with EHR data desirable. Knowledge of healthcare improvement science methods: Cause & Effect analysis, SPC, Key Driver Diagram. Additional Information Pay Range Compensation is based on role level and requirements and may also be determined by education, experience, skills, location, and internal equity. Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.
