Store Softlines Manager - Ft. Smith, AR

Job Overview The Softlines Sales Manager is responsible for the overall management and execution of operational excellence for the entire store, with a focus on supervising and managing Softlines Sales (Apparel and Footwear). The role directs and coordinates activities through subordinate team leads and other team members, driving store performance and customer satisfaction. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred. At least three years of relevant experience. Demonstrated success leading departments of up to 40 people to drive operational excellence and meet sales targets. Skills Exceptional supervisory and management skills; ability to coach department members on store policies, protocols, and expectations. Strong customer service orientation. Effective problem solving and communication with customers and team members. Business acumen with understanding of market, competition, and profitability targets. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or regulations. Clear, positive speaking and active listening with diverse audiences. Strong written communication: reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Presentation skills to respond to questions from groups of team members, partners, and customers. Common sense reasoning to make timely decisions. Working knowledge of inventory software, order processing, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Basic mathematical computations. Key Responsibilities Full‑time position averaging 45–50 hours per week. Overall management of store operations and Softlines Sales. Personnel decisions including hiring, onboarding, training, discipline, termination, and development. Provide daily supervisory oversight to Team Leads and team members ensuring exceptional customer service. Develop and implement strategy for weekly and monthly operational goals. Manage workforce productivity, efficiency, and process improvement initiatives. Hold team members accountable for compliance with sales, safety, and security practices and federal, state, and local regulations. Ensure completion of departmental zoning and adherence to store and Company standards. Supervise execution of assignments delegated by the Store Director. Participate in floor walks with Regional Vice President, District Manager, and Store Director, and create implementation plans based on feedback. Audit firearm sales in compliance with federal and state law, completing ATF Form4473 and conducting background checks; signed off as final approver. Complete required Firearms Sales Certification training and Power Industrial Truck Certification training. Complete Academy Leadership University. Enforce company policies, procedures, and safety rules. Adhere to company work hours, policies, procedures, and rules applicable to management-level employees. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements & Attendance Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally climb or balance, or stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
