GRADE LEVEL : U DEPARTMENT: Power Plant Newman STARTING SALARY: $51.97 JOB PURPOSE: Responsibleforsafeandefficientoperationandmaintenanceofvariouspumps,motors,boilers, turbines, generators, and related activities as deemed necessary by the Shift Supervisor. EDUCATION AND/OR SPECIAL TRAINING: HighSchoolDiplomaorequivalent;oranequivalentcombinationoftrainingandexperience. SuccessfulcompletionofanapprovedPowerPlantOperatorApprenticeshipProgramoran equivalent training program. EXPERIENCE AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Two(2)years’experienceasapowerplantoperator,withemphasisonconventionalsteam generating units and gas turbine-combined cycle units. ExperienceasElectrician,MechanicorO&Mtechnicianpreferred. MustpassaHumanPerformanceEvaluation(HPE). ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Routinelymonitorsandlogsplantequipmentindicatorstoensuresafe,effectiveoperation. PerformsminormaintenanceusingbasichandtoolsandsupportsCraftspersonnelduring outages and planned maintenance activities. Opens,closes,and/oradjustsvalvesandpowersupequipment. Monitorsequipmentmotors,pumps,coolingtowers,acidandphosphatefeeder,fueloiltanks, water wells, reverse osmosis systems, and other equipment by way of control systems and sensory observation. Operateschlorine,acid,phosphate,fueloil,condenser,waterwell,citywatermakeup,water, treatment, and other plant equipment in accordance with safe operating practices. AssistsandmaintainscommunicationwiththeControlRoomOperatortoensurethatprocesses are carried out correctly and efficiently. Wearsprotectiveclothingandsafetyequipmentasrequiredinperformingjobfunctions. Interpretsandadherestotechnicalmanualproceduresandpractices. Continuouslytrainstoassureaneffectiveandefficientoperationofequipmentandfunctions. AdherestotheCompany’ssafetypoliciesandprocedures. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be in compliance with El Paso Electric Company’s DrivingPolicy. Complieswithallapplicable Companypolicies,procedures,andcodeofethicsaswellasall applicable governmental laws and regulations to include employment, safety, and environmental standards and regulations.
