Salmon, Idaho Experience - YouTube Requirements The Supply chain clerk is an entry-level position that supports the daily operations of the Materials Management department by performing inventory management, receiving, distribution and data entry tasks. This role ensures supplies are accurately tracked, stocked, and delivered to departments in a timely and efficient manner to support safe patient care. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Receive, inspect, count, weigh, sort and verify incoming shipments for accuracy, damage, and compliance with purchase orders Stock shelves, supply rooms, and par levels according to established inventory procedures. Pick, pack, and deliver supplies to clinical and non-clinical departments. Maintain accurate inventory records in the materials management system, including counts, adjustments, and item updates. Monitor stock levels and notify leadership of shortages, backorders, or unusual usage patterns. Assist with cycle counts and annual physical inventory Prepare and process returns, credits, and exchanges with vendors. Maintain clean, organized storage areas that meet safety and regulatory standards. Provide excellent customer service to internal departments and externals partners. Stores articles in bins, or on shelves, according to identifying information. Fills orders or issues supplies from stock. Determines methods of storage, identification, and stock location, considering temperature, humidity, height and weight limits, turnover, floor loading capacities, and required space. Outgoing packages, such as Fed-X and UPS. Must be weight and label with proper outgoing labels with name, address. Copies of paperwork goes to department sending packages, 1 to AP and 1 kept in Supply Chain department for tracking. Other job duties as assigned. Required Skills And Abilities Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Basic computer skills, including data entry and email communication. Basic CPSI system experience. Ability to prioritize tasks in a busy day. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to follow established procedures and maintain compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at a level necessary to perform essential job functions. Ability to read and interpret packing slips, purchase orders, item labels, safety information, and hospital policies, Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with vendors, delivery drivers, clinical staff and other departments. Ability to listen and respond effectively to verbal instructions, changes in supply needs, and urgent request. Ability to document inventory information accurately in written and electronic formats. Ability to ask clarifying questions to ensure accuracy in orders deliveries, and departmental requests. Prepare supply carts, kits, and restock bins according to department standards. Support the receiving process by unloading trucks, breaking down boxes. Take trash/pallets out. Maintain documentation for recalls and assist with locating and removing affected products. Support supply chain leadership with data collection, usage reports, and special projects. Participate in departmental meetings, training, and process improvement initiatives. Follow all safety, infection control and regulatory guidelines related to storage, handling and distribution of medical supplies. Education/Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Prior experience in supply chain, warehouse, inventory, or healthcare materials management preferred. Comply with all federal and state regulatory standards applicable to employee’s department and job function. Adheres to all hospital policies, procedures and regulations, e.g., HIPAA, Medicare Fraud and Abuse, OSHA. Supports and participates in common teamwork: Cooperates and works together with all co-workers; plan and complete job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment. Use tactful, appropriate communication in sensitive and emotional situations. Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers, or patients regarding reported complaints, problems, and concerns. Promotes positive public relations with patients, family members, and guests. Knowledgeable of patient rights and ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and well-being of all patients in a safe, secure environment. Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Frequent standing and walking throughout storerooms, loading docks, hallways, and clinical areas (often several hours at a time). Regular lifting, pushing, and pulling of supplies and equipment, typically 25-50 lbs., with occasional items up to 75 lbs. using team lift or equipment. Repetitive bending, reaching, stooping, twisting, and kneeling while stocking shelves, rotating inventory, and retrieving items from low or high locations. Ability to maneuver cards, pallet jacks, and supply bins through tight spaces, elevators, and patient care areas, Fine motor skills for opening packages, labeling and counting small items. Ability to climb step stools or small ladders to access upper shelving safely. Sustained visual focus for reading item numbers, verifying shipments, and entering data into inventory systems. Ability to work at a steady, fast pace during peak delivery times or urgent supply needs. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work performed in storerooms, loading docks, hallways, and clinical areas with varying temperatures. Exposure to outdoor conditions when receiving deliveries or transporting items between buildings. Frequent contact with boxes, pallets, shrink wrap, and packaging materials. Occasional exposure to no-sterile medical supplies, cleaning chemicals, and standard hospital environmental conditions. Noise levels may vary from quiet office areas to loading dock or equipment areas.
