Assembly TechnicianThis role focuses on building and assembling a variety of cables used in aircraft and ground control stations. You will perform detailed electrical assembly work, including wiring, soldering, and cable harnessing, while closely following blueprints, schematics, and written work instructions. You will use a range of hand tools and automated equipment to crimp, label, and inspect cable assemblies, supporting both repetitive and non-repetitive production tasks in a highly organized and safety-focused environment.ResponsibilitiesBuild and assemble various cables used in aircraft and ground control stations according to specifications.Determine and follow appropriate methods and sequences of operations for assembly tasks, including wiring, component installation, hand soldering, and cable harnessing.Read, interpret, and accurately follow assembly drawings, blueprints, schematics, work instructions, and wire lists.Crimp terminals and contacts onto wires using both manual and automated tooling, ensuring secure and reliable connections.Perform soldering and tinning of wires, splices, and lap/hook connections in accordance with quality standards.Label cable assemblies in accordance with drawing and documentation requirements.Perform a variety of production assembly tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive work, depending on project needs.Use basic hand tools such as cutters, wire strippers, hand crimpers, scissors, soldering irons, and heat guns safely and effectively.Monitor and verify the quality of assemblies in accordance with established control procedures.Observe all applicable laws, regulations, and company obligations while conducting business-related activities.Work safely at all times by following established operating procedures and safety guidelines.Apply basic understanding of 5S and Lean principles where applicable to maintain an organized and efficient work area.Collaborate with team members or work independently to meet production goals and deadlines.Work extended hours, including overtime and additional days, as required to support production demands.Essential SkillsExperience with cable assembly and/or cable harnessing.Hands-on experience with soldering, cable harnessing, assembly, and wire crimping.Ability to read, follow, and understand blueprints, schematics, work instructions, and wire lists.Proficiency in crimping terminals and contacts onto wires using manual and automated tooling.Familiarity with basic hand tools, including cutters (dykes), wire strippers, hand crimpers, scissors, soldering irons, and heat guns.Good visual perception and the ability to distinguish between colors.Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.Customer-focused mindset with a good understanding of the general aspects of the job and limited technical comprehension where appropriate.Knowledge of computer operations and applications relevant to the position.Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team environment.Willingness and ability to work extended hours, including overtime, as required.Additional Skills & QualificationsCertification to IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards is a plus.Understanding of 5S and Lean principles is a plus.Experience working in a structured production or manufacturing environment is beneficial.Comfort working at an individual workbench or station for extended periods.Ability to adapt to both repetitive and non-repetitive assembly tasks.Why Work Here?The organization offers a stable environment with strong growth opportunities, allowing you to develop your skills while contributing to advanced aerospace and surveillance technologies. The role follows a 9/80 work schedule. First shift typically runs from 5:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with frequent overtime on Fridays and Saturdays until approximately 1:30 p.m. Second shift generally runs from 3:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday, with additional hours on Fridays and Saturdays from about 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Each assembler has an individual workbench or station equipped with all necessary tools to complete cable assemblies. The work is primarily seated, and the environment is calm, quiet, and very well organized. Use of headphones is not permitted, and mobile phones must remain out of sight, such as in pockets, during work. The dress code requires long pants, clean and appropriate attire without loose clothing, and closed-toe shoes to support a safe and professional workspace.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Poway, CA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.96 - $27.26/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
