Plant Design & Piping Designer

Work Location Chandler, AZ; Houston, TX Job Summary In this role, you will plan, develop, and review Plant Design & Piping (PD&P) work, produce drawings and documentation, and prepare design estimates for a project. You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, and review and approve drawings, calculations, and bid summaries. You will solve complex technical issues and ensure PD&P designs comply with all regulations and standards. This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership #LI-AM3 Major Responsibilities Leads or administers work of PD&P designers and drafters for a business line technology to include the preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models and construction drawings Develops designs for complete and complex 3D model equipment layouts & pipe designs with minimum supervision from which detailed scale models and/or construction drawings are completed Prepares or assists with the preparation of assigned material requisitions and bid evaluations Monitors and checks work for compliance with approved PD&P design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy Participates in constructability reviews Prepares design and drafting procedures to standardize design effort Coordinates or makes jobsite visits, as required, to resolve problems and interpret drawings and documents Reviews PD&P design scope changes, as required, for project management Endorses or prepares reports of work progress, as required, for project and discipline use Ensures PD&P systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards Education and Experience Requirements Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience Required Knowledge and Skills Experience developing and maintaining BIM models with defined LOD specifications (LOD 100-500) for Plant Design and Piping Experience with 3d-modeling of complex piping systems, pipe supports, and modeling of mechanical equipment for a large industrial manufacturing facility (semiconductor fabs or data centers) project. Knowledge of CAD design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, graphic arts, reading of drawings, and reproduction methods used by the discipline. Experience in the use of 3d Modeling tools; AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks. Experience with multi discipline interface management and global 3D model oversight. Experience in reading, interpreting, and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups. Obtains good listening, oral and written communication, planning, and organizational skills are essential. Preferred Qualifications Prior work experience on a medium or major size project in engineering management at Bechtel. Prior experience in planning and executing greenfield or brownfield projects in one or more of the following market segments: Semiconductor, Data Center, Electric Vehicle, or EV Battery.
