The Operations Manager leads day-to-day activities for a multi-shift manufacturing operation, serving as the single point of operational leadership across the plant floor. This hands-on role focuses on unifying managers and supervisors, building consistency across shifts, and transforming growth into smooth, repeatable execution. The position plays a pivotal role in launching and stabilizing a new second shift, ensuring high levels of output, quality, and on-time delivery while enabling senior leadership to concentrate on strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Own daily manufacturing operations across both shifts, ensuring consistent production output, product quality, and on-time delivery to customers.

• Unify and lead production managers, supervisors, and support functions so they operate from aligned priorities, standardized processes, and a common set of expectations.

• Ensure clear, consistent communication across shift handoffs so information, priorities, and performance standards carry seamlessly between first and second shift.

• Lead the successful stand-up and stabilization of second-shift operations, including staffing plans, hiring, onboarding, and training to mirror first-shift standards.

• Drive process consistency between first and second shifts so procedures, quality standards, and productivity expectations are uniform across the operation.

• Partner closely with Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to reduce lead times, resolve production bottlenecks, and improve overall throughput.

• Champion a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement on the shop floor, encouraging teams to identify issues and implement sustainable solutions.

• Manage capacity planning and workforce scheduling across a 9/80 work schedule, optimizing staffing levels to meet demand while maintaining efficiency.

• Serve as the primary operational escalation point for production issues, resolving problems quickly before they require senior executive involvement.

• Support the maintenance of AS9100 and ISO 9001 compliance on the production floor by ensuring adherence to documented processes and quality standards.

• Monitor and report on operational key performance indicators, including throughput, lead time, quality yield, productivity, and on-time delivery, and present results to executive leadership.

• Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to align operational priorities with business objectives and represent manufacturing operations in leadership discussions.

• Identify opportunities for lean improvements, standard work, and enhanced production scheduling to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

• Ensure that workforce planning, training, and performance management practices support a high-performing, engaged, and safety-focused operations team.

Essential Skills

• 8–10 years of progressive manufacturing operations leadership experience, including direct responsibility for running a multi-shift plant floor.

• Demonstrated ability to lead through other leaders, building alignment among managers and supervisors rather than only individual contributors.

• Proven experience overseeing day-to-day manufacturing operations with responsibility for output, quality, and delivery performance.

• Strong background in workforce planning and capacity planning in a production environment.

• Hands-on experience with continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor.

• Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and their application in a production setting.

• Working knowledge of production scheduling practices to balance capacity, demand, and resources.

• Working knowledge of quality systems and compliance requirements in a regulated manufacturing environment.

• Experience in aerospace, defense, or other regulated or certified manufacturing environments, including AS9100, ISO 9001, or ITAR-related operations.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field.

• Excellent communication skills with the presence to lead cross-functional teams and represent operations to executive leadership.

• Ability to stand up or stabilize a new shift or significant operational expansion, ensuring consistency and performance across all shifts.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience launching or expanding second-shift or multi-shift operations is a strong plus.

• background in environments governed by export control regulations such as ITAR.

• Ability to build and maintain strong partnerships with Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams.

• Skill in developing and reporting operational KPIs to inform decision-making and drive performance.

• Demonstrated success in fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

• Strong leadership capabilities with a focus on coaching, alignment, and clear expectations for managers and supervisors.

• Comfort working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented manufacturing environment with evolving processes.

Work Environment

This role operates within a manufacturing facility that runs on a 9/80 work schedule, providing every other Friday off. The Operations Manager oversees both first and second shifts and must be flexible and present across the operation as needed. The first shift typically runs from 5:30 AM to 2:30 PM, while the second shift runs from 3:00 PM to midnight and is currently under development. The position is expected to begin with a focus on first shift and transition into an overlapping schedule, generally around 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, though specific hours can be adjusted based on operational needs. The environment is highly collaborative, with close interaction between Production, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams, and emphasizes safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. This is a Permanent position based out of Stroudsburg, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $160000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
